I considered one a couple of years ago, but only offered in stick in the US unfortunately, no dual clutch, so I'm out. It has a very unique and mean sound that sounds pretty similar to the sound of our cars in my opinion.

speaking of that, I heard my neighbour's 335is accelerate off the other day and it's not even close to being as loud as our 135is'

Ya, bear-av-history I think his name is on here has/had both a 335is and a 135is at the same time and looked into it and the 335is doesn't quite have the PE, has something in between stock and the PE and definitely sounds nowhere near as good as ours. Plus it's an N54 engine. And as we've discussed before, it has ugly, unfinished brake calipers. I also like our wheels better than the more concave 19 inchers on the 335is.

Did you ever post an update on how the tune has been? I may have missed the review.

I agree with you on all points except the concaveness of the wheels. I dig it on the 19"s.

Took me a while to find this first review... here you go !

Ok "IS" boys... it official, my IS has gone Donkey Kong. Dinan Stage 3: 373 horsepower & 408 lb-ft of torque and let me tell you something... it is everything I had hoped for. Sweet, smooth, elegant, wicked fast and fun fun fun. The 91 extra lbs of torque is unbelievable. In your seat every time.

All of our intoxicating burbly, grumbly exhaust notes that we so love on our 135is's BMW PE are still there. It even grumbles and pops snappier and harder. The car runs cooler, even in NYC rush hour traffic. Throttle response is extremely quick, perhaps with the cooler charged air from the FMIC that is like twice the size of the OEM. My fun gear use to be 3rd & 4th but is now also 5th and 6th. The RPM's simply spool up to red line way fast in any gear. You really have to be careful. Thank the BMW Gods I have a DCT, I probably would have broke something if I didn't. I also had the rubber bushings in the front thrust arms replaced with precision delrin ball joints that comes with machined aluminum housing and I must say, all that suspension shimmy and slop are gone.

I've only had 2 hours seat time but will give you a more detailed report when I drive more. I was seriously driving back to work today with a smile from ear to ear.

I say JUST DO IT! You will not regret it. No issues, no funny codes, no blowing up this or that. Just start and go. Truly... IMO, performance without sacrifice.

I should have made my thought clearer on that - I think that much concavity wouldn't look as good on OUR cars, same way I don't think ours would look good on that car. I swear, the finish on its 19's seems flatter and less machined. I see one almost every single day a couple houses down from me.

I think we were waiting for this more detailed report later, though I expected you to be driving it nearly 24/7 so never expected much. =P

My question though is why does your badge thingy say Dinan S2 and not S3? And you figure out your suspension plans? Looks like your m3 subframe bushings are en route, but think you may go dinan suspension? Dare I say, join our 135is mineral grey performance suspension gang (also with honorary members evenesteban and marc08ex)? Or perhaps something else like fancy ohlins coilovers?

Hey Greg, there no such thing as an Dinan S3 135i. The S3 designation is for the 1M. M3 bushings should be in this week. Beast is going into my BMW dealership next week for the 6 hour surgery. I cant wait! Wooo wee!

Sorry about that. Well....Its been about 4000 miles since. I average 15.2 miles per gallon. I smile from ear to ear every morning. I can do donuts with out snow or rain. I can drift every street corner. The beast starts every morning so that I can drive my kids to school and myself to work. Nothing has broke so far. I need new tires. Hows that for a review. Best money I every spent. You gotta do it too! JUST DO IT GREG!

Ah, I assumed the S3 had to do with the engine software you got, not an overall stage designation. Sure is a pretty emblem thingy though. I'm so inspired, I think I may put my PPK badge on this weekend.

Wow, you're having the dealer do the bushings? Not the shop that did the Dinan install? Can't wait to hear what you think of it though. Don't think any of the IS-ers have the full swap.

Right now the best money I spent was on the BMW Performance Suspension, with the PSS perhaps neck and neck. Sadly, the extra power won't do much for me as I sit in horrible traffic every day to/from work. I need to quit my job so I can drive freely and more often, but at which point I won't be able to AFFORD it. =P I still might consider the stage 2 at some point down the road, but right now it's just perrrrrfect for me and my situation.

Can I say how pretty mineral grey is at least? =)

What!@#$@! You did not apply the PPK placard yet? Unbelievable.

Yup, dealership is installing the 4 rear subframe bushings. I am not doing the front because I already have Dinan's delrin ball joints in lieu of the rubber bushings. Motor Works West is 2 hours from me while the dealer is 20 minutes away. It was also logistically better to ask the dealer because I get the use of their courtesy car.

I cant wait!!! hee hee

Well, the PPK didn't go on initially cause I was really close to getting or heavily considering the dinan s2. Then, it was delayed for OCD issues. Now those have been resolved, a plan has been formulated, and all I need is a new aluminum bolt warning sticker and I'm in business. =P

Luckily, nobody really does m3 front bushings, just the 4 rear subframe ones. I actually TRIED to do them and have them installed when I had the performance suspension put on, but the kind gents at HP Autosport thought it'd likely be overkill and a waste of my time and money, so I figured, hey, thanks for saving me $1200. I'll let Rick or EvenEsteban try to convince you you should get the performance suspension though. I've hyped it enough for a lifetime it seems.

Here is the part number for that aluminum bolt warning sticker. "1j8u9s6t1s9t7i29c4k98iT0On"

What can we say that hasn't been said already? Maybe if Rick and Overpar56 do their comparison of the Msport suspension and BMW Performance suspension, that'll convince him.

anytime Doc!

No sleeper look for me. However, I do not plan on modifying any cosmetic items. I wish to keep the 135is integrity intact. IMHO, just like your 1M but with much less fanfare, it was also a limited production vehicle and may be sought after in the near future. Who knows...

Are you back in your ride yet after this past weekend's unfortunate scalpel attack?

BMW PS is on my radar but would rather replace only when due, ie 40-60k when the oe shocks are known to blow/leak. I just wonder if the slight drop combined with upsized tire 225/255 PSS will cause any rubbing. My winter setup albeit 17", actually has the same overall diameter as my 225/255 PSS of 25" but the shoulders are not nearly as square as the PSS so it's the height + square shoulders I'm most concerned about. For a daily that sees most of its driving in the tri-state area, I actually like the ground clearance I have so it's a tough choice between practicality vs aesthetics/performance.

If I win the lotto, I'm telling you. First trip is VAC for Quaife. 2nd trip is Dinan shop for tune, finished off with an install of the PS. Then I put in an order of my BMW Performance Seats, OEM CF interior, and Performance Steering Wheel (electronic of course) at ECS... all this would get me the *perfect* 135is. Then I could put her away buy an i3 for my new daily =D

I'm loving the BMW Performance Suspension! During the first 20 miles I thought I might have lost some of the ride benefit of ditching the runflats, but 200 miles later, I'm very happy with the setup. The car should have been delivered with this kit. Total drop compared to stock (Sport suspension) sits at 0.4" in the front and 0.3" in the rear. Visible difference for sure, but the better handling is the payoff!
