loup pop, limp mode, dual cone intake?

So i was on my way home light turned green i gunned it. I Shift into second around 6k RPMS and hear a loud pop like a gun was shot im like holy what was that? My car than goes into limp mode... at the time my only mod was the BMS DUAL CONE FILTERS.... drove it slowly to BMW... the tech said my glove air hose popped off. He said the dual cones were taking in so much air that it popped the glove right off. This glove is under the filters. Now that i have the JB+ im scared if this happens again now they will see my jb+. He said he thinks he fixed it. he popped it back on and but zip ties all around it to hold it. Ghetto solution.

Really.......Dual Cone filters taking in to much air.

Your tech needs to be more specific on what popped off.... was it the charge pipe going into the TB?

i forgot the exact name... if you take off the dual cones theirs a black sleeve right underneath it and the black box thing popped out of the sleeve. he put zip ties to hold it in.

have noooooo clue what your describing

but on a side note today me and the girlfriend where on our way to dinner and i go to overtake a car and punch it and 2 seconds later i hear a loud pop and my car jerks but i get no CEL's or go into limp mode and i immediately know what happened, my charge pipe blew off. i pull over and sure enough it popped off from where the charge pipe connects to the intercooler piping. luckily our cars come with a tool kit, i used the flat head to tighten up the hose clamp and i was on my way

I have no idea what I glove air hose is, but I'm guessing your charge pipe popped off like BSM 135i is describing. It seems to be a somewhat common problem, so you might want to look into getting an aftermarket charge pipe or throwing a clamp on the stock one (not sure if a clamp would work though).

I'm guessing charge pipe. Easy to put back on yourself, you could even source an O-Ring to tighten the connection.

Your charge pipe blew off most likely, not related to intake, but is related to running higher boost levels. Just make sure its on tight and should be fine.

90% it was your charge pipe, if you are not sure of the name, take some pics

Ha, I know that sound all too well. I had my charge pipe blow off the FMIC on my STi...and it puts out 24psi peak so it made one hell of a pop. On that car though the car will stall because it runs a MAF, but if you unplug the MAF it'll run off the MAP sensor in limp mode pretty much.

Unless you've messed with those pipes though they shouldn't be blowing off, mine came off in the STi because I had to take my pipes off for something and didn't tighten the t-bolt clamp enough.

I had a similar occurace last night. The car was running strong and when I gave it gas it felt like it was not pulling well and almost at all. Then there was what I thought was a backfire and today I went and checked it out and all was well. I scaned and no codes other than the o2 sensor ones I am getting taken care of (thanks terry for v3!). The only other thing it could possibly be imo was my meth was low and sprayed air into the intake (which seems unlikley) so I filled her up. Any advice before I drive it later?

I want to replace my regular hose clamps with t-bolt clamps to make sure it don't happen again, where can I pick some up at?

Onefastman, have you changed your chargepipe? Make sure the connections are secure at both ends.
