Can you put parts in the trunk during Euro Delivery?
I want to pick up clear corners and maybe some other euro stuff... can I package it up and put it into the trunk of the car - or will it be removed?
Has anyone done this? |

The trunk has to be empty. According to customs regulations the car can't be shipped with anything other than the original factory equipment. So if customs finds extra parts in the trunk, they will either be confiscated or your vehicle will not clear customs.
You can always check stuff in your luggage or ship it back to yourself though.

Even if they allowed it, I wouldn't recommend it. Even the Harms guy (the shipping company in Munich that does ED deliveries) warned against having the factory first aid kit and hazard triangle in the trunk during shipping b/c things often get stolen on the trip over.

Customs won't notice but BMW will. The car wouldn't be DOT legal if it didn't have the amber reflectors. Thus, BMW legally COULDN'T give the car to the customer. They would likely install stock US headlights, and charge you for it.

The car doesn't need amber reflectors, just an amber bulb when lit. At least that was colorados take on it.

Just ask the ED guys where the nearest DHL is and have them shipped that way. Mark it as a gift and you should be fine. Forget shipping in the trunk...and while your at it pick me up a set!
