Driving trip to Wales
Seems to have been lots of posts about things going wrong, crashes, general unhappiness on this board recently, so I thought I'd post a few pics of something very right - a weekend with the 1er in south Wales.
All of the pics below are taken on the Black Mountain Pass in the Brecon Beacons national park, an awesome stretch of road on the western side of the park. National speed limit, barely another car on the road, sun streeming through the clouds and nothing but the sound of my performace exhaust to keep me company - enjoy. |

Thanks.
This was the first time I've been able to really wind the 135 out on a properly fast and winding road. Few observations: - I was pleasantly surprised at the handling balance. From reading these boards I almost expected to be understeering like an old Audi but in reality (at road speeds) I found that a little extra throttle at the right time could easily deal with any understeer 99% of the time. - The performance exhaust drones a bit, but only at 2k rpm. The car sits a bit under 3k on the freeway and is completely fine. - Fuel economy is fearsome when really pushing on, particularly at £1.55 per litre for premium in rural Wales ($9.18 per gallon!). |
