I'd venture a guess (though may be wrong) and say that's their valve option (MSRP $799).

What's the size of the tips, didn't see info on that?

Yeah, valve can be opened wirelessly via remote according to the guy I spoke with at Frankfurt.

Very well made and I doubt anyone is disputing that. Wish it wasn't being sold for 20% of the car's MSRP though.

Has anyone heard if Kreisseig is coming out with an exhaust? They may be a bit more reasonable.

Yeah, I was drooling all over this system and didn't have the heart to tell the guy that there was no way in hell I'd drop that kind of cash on an exhaust

I put the Akropovic shots into their own Flickr set so anyone wanting to see bigger/higher res pics can take a look here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/drillsl...7627691970272/

What's the difference if you don't option it with the wireless exhaust valve.
1. does it still have the valve but just without the remote?
2. if so does it only open after a certain RPM?
3. or does it not have the valve at all and all piping runs through the muffler?

Here's a dumb question... Has anyone posted pics of an exhaust *without* the tips installed? I'd love to see if they're even remotely necessary.

To answer your question, below is the M3 system showing what it looks like without the tips.

Thanks for that picture! Now that I know the outlets from the muffler are a standard OD, I will begin my search for some 3rd party tips that aren't $1300!

How about these? (Although I'd prefer them in matte finish.)

I think these are a great alternative, we just need to know they are of the right diameter and will fit on the Akra slip-on system.

BTW, IIRC those tips are 1" longer than the 1///M exhaust, but they shouldn't stick out all that much.

Their stand is located in Hall 8 with Citroen, Peugeot, Lexus and Opel and their location within Hall 8 is BO8.

Cheers

Here you go... I went back to the IAA just for you! <jk>

I must say it is a very slick design with the valve diverting exhaust through the outer or inner tips.

If only those damn tips didn't cost so much!

You probably get screwed by the currency conversion. At $2091 USD, the slip-on isn't too outrageous, considering I paid $1800 USD for my E46 M3's Dixis titanium muffler 5 years ago. The additional $2400 USD for the titanium midpipe is fairly insane though. Then you get to the tips at $1400 USD which makes them automotive equivalent of a woman's thong: minimum material at maximum price.

The slip-on with wireless control intrigues me. If there's a noticeable difference in noise between the two modes I may end up purchasing one.
