awesome video.....the best 1M lap time was previously recorded at 8:12, and the GTS was at 7:48

is your car stock? I can't imagine making up a 24s gap without any engine enhancements

I had the privilege and pleasure to drive along with Andre in this car last december, witch is stock on engine, but has improved suspension (JRZ RS 1 + Eibach Pro Kit) and a little bit more camber if i recall it correctly. There are also Recaro sport seats installed.

Ah, thanks for the info. My misinformation.

This video is BtG...

As someone else posted the link here's a copy paste. Add another 25 to 30 seconds to the lap time to get the approximate Ring time it would be.

On a tourist lap it's impossible to complete a whole lap without stopping to queue for the gates at 'C'. So the BTG method is to time your laps in a point-to-point style from the bridge to the gantry. On a trackday this is also useful, as you don't have to complete 3 whole laps (63km) to get one lap time. To recap: after exiting the carpark at 'C' on the map above, drive under the Bridge (Antoniusbuche) at 'B'. From here it's 19.1km to the Gantry (currently carrying Audi sponsorship) at point 'A'. Easy!

Some interesting facts about BTG:

The distance between the gantry and the bridge is almost exactly 1 mile, 1660mtrs.
It takes a top-end sportscar less than 25 seconds to cover this distance. Most normal cars with a 120mph top speed over 30 seconds.
A BTG lap isn't just 25 or 30 seconds shorter, as the standing start from point 'C' adds another 5-6 seconds back on the time for most cars.
The straight is very bumpy, and is uphill all the way to the bridge.
Top speed is attained into the dip AFTER the bridge on a flying lap
On a BTG lap top speed is attained before Schwedenkreuz or in the Foxhole (for lower power cars)

Nice driving there.

Can't wait to attack the Ring with mine.

How are the brakes holding up? Any problems concerning brake fade after a fast lap like that? Or aren't they stock? I've heard on some reviews that brake fade can be a bit of a problem on the M3 or the 1M.

Afaik Andre has an AIM Solo in his car. I would assume he was using that for timing.

Timing and/or taking videos is forbidden during tourist traffic. Andre was driving during a trackday where the track is closed to public traffic. There and during the races you can time and record whatever you want.

There is an exception to the "no video" rule. You can rent GoPros from the Nuerburgring and if you are using a rental cam, it is permissible to take videos in tourist traffic. Is it adviseable? No. Especially not for someone that is new to the track. Cut the bs and concentrate on what you are doing. Sounds harsh? Believe me, it's not funny, when you have someone in front of you that is more worried about his camera than the oncoming traffic from behind. In addition, if you are not used to driving with a camera, chances are, that it will make you go too fast. This track has very few places where there is room for error!

Check out this page before you go:

Thanks for the advices

Safety is the upmost important in these condition, i will not be holding the camera while driving... it would be safely secure and recording the whole time without needing input from me..

i guess i will see then how the conditions are... But rest assured that i will be keeping my right side and let all fast drivers pass by on my left (if possible)

Mooi was 't als ie die oranje boven bak in Schwedenkreuz had ingehaald.

(had je wel even 'n tegenstuurmoment man op die snelheid.)

Maar voor de rest niet onaardig.

The time advevo recorded was bot a full lap, it was BTG. Check previous posts for calculated full lap time.
the time is very impressive, especially as it is in traffic.

You sir, like many has said before me, are an awesome driver!
You've just inspired me to go track driving this summer.. Even if it's with a way smaller engine and a way smaller track, it will be hella fun!

brilliant -

I noticed you were taking some lines differently than the GTS - is that car setup related or experience based (with over 100x laps, you obviously know the track)?

I'd say it's based on the 1M driver being a better driver.

The GTS had some bad lines...
