Or, if they're all down, use the button that puts them all up at once.

So, is this something that insurance would cover? Because it seems like a pretty normal kind of thing that turned accidental. If I hadn't read this thread, I would have never known. And I think I risked some deep puddles this fall.

Right since when driving, I can never remember whether it's fronts or rears first!

I always have to think about it as well but it's the back first. Intuitively it would have to be since you'd be screwing up the windows a lot when you go through the Starbucks drive through!

What happens if you put the fronts up first? Will it let you?

Really? Water splashed by oncoming SUV can hydro lock the 135i? Seems a bit fragile, no? I understanding hitting half a foot standing water at 55 but splashes?

You could always just try to use AEM's bypass valve:

http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=20

Don't know how to fit it into the intake for the N54, but if you're really worried, Sport Compact Car tested it and said that it works:

EDIT: Never mind. From the Q&A on the AEM website:

Quote:
Q: Can I use an Air Bypass Valve on a forced induction engine?

A: Do NOT use an Air Bypass Valve on engines equipped with forced induction (turbo or superchargers). The increased flow demands created by the forced induction could damage the valve and lead to engine damage.
Oh well. Neat idea, though.

Unfortunately I can't find the thread from a few months ago where a 'vert owner actually damaged a window - apparently by putting a front one up first with the top down. The owner's manual warning simply states that wind sealing may be negatively affected. Perhaps Warmtoes can point you to the thread.

Here's the link: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ndow+alignment

Essentially what happens is if you put up your front window and then put up the back window it knocks the front window out of alignment as it says in the manual that the back window must come up before the front.

I'm one of those that cracked my windshield with wiper blades and I knew about this problem. It's just one of those things you forget when washing your car.
