Floor mats solution
Got delivery of 135 conv and what’s surprise - no floor mats. I want to keep original upholstery of the car clean. What do you use? Order OEM or some aftermarket?

I was very, very lucky. I managed to negotiate two sets of floor mats from dealer on day of purchase (always, ALWAYS try to score as much BMW swag as possible the day you write the check)...
Old advice from smart friends... Get two sets. The nice fabric ones that match the interior, I keep in their original box in my attic, safe and sound. Never touch them until I sell the car. The other floor mats are rubber all-weather ones that are in the car right now. If you only get one set, get black rubber all-weather ones. If your dealer stubbornly refuses to toss a set in with your new car, go looking for OEMs. Scan catalogs and online. But definitely DO nag your dealer while his memory of your purchase is still fresh.

Why keep the mats in your attic? Assuming you had to pay for 1 of the sets, you could just buy brand new OEM mats to throw into your car if you actually do end up selling.. It would be the same thing except you wouldn't have to spend the $ until you knew you were selling. That's if you don't plan on keeping the car for like 30 years and end up having to buy NOS mats

My car is a lease so I do not care about keeping a new set for selling. Unfortunately I had no idea that car can come without mats, so didn't try to negotiate them upfront.

I don't see the point of having mats and not use them ot be honest , they are supposed to protect the carpet( is it called carpet lol) under them. If they get ruined just buy new ones. On my E46 I used them for 4.5 years and they were still good when I sold the car

Get the rubber mats for winter, and the carpet ones for summer. Check with Dan at United - look for his web site on this forum, he will fix you up. If you get some cheap ones at Wal Mart - they won't fit right, nor will they look good.. While you are there - look at the side and rear sun shades.

I am getting the OEM ones with the car, but also ordering a set of Coco Mats- they are great and classic looking- made from coconut fibre and come in variety of colors, AND specially custom cut for your model vehicle. Approx $200 for a 4-piece set. Look and wear great. Have had them in two previous cars. Kept the OEM mats stashed away, so they look brand new. Go to cocomats.com to check them out.

I always use the rubber OEM mats, and have always used them in my bimmers. They are great quality and don't curl up as the carpet ones do.
I think they're about $80 for all 4 |

I have now BMW thick rubber floor mats. I keep the original mats in a box in my house, for when I sell the car in a year or so. I'd get a nice set of rubber mats from the dealer -- they are not too expensive and should last at least a year+++.

This is off topic, but I noticed your profile name is MOCKBA, so does it mean Moscow, just written in all caps to represent the spelling in Cyrillic? In that case, I wanted to make mine HOBATOP, but many people wouldn't really understand what it meant. I think that's really cool. I actually wanted to make it my license plate, but Hawaii only has a 6 digit license plate :-\ Just was wondering.

Here in Colorado, I have two sets of mats. The winter ones are gray (came with the car) and I don't care if they get dirty, which they do in the winter. Summer ones are black and I keep them nice and clean.
