Btw, No DIY needed. It's very straightforward, adn the DIY is already in the Owners Manual.

The oil cooler lines make the passenger side (for us left hand drivers) inside headlight cover a bit of a chore to get access to. If you do this mod, you'll quickly become acquainted with the bitch clip. It's similar to the bitch clip you become enemies with during a short shifter install on a BMW.

The Kelvin charts with headlight photos are helpful for general HID output theories to me - but tough when you are trying to compare actual output from different vehicles (since the projector lensing varies per car). Some 6000k lights look more like 5000k and vice-versa on different manufactures' cars.

I think what the original post was getting at is that some BMWs with stock lighting appear to have almost an aqua hue to them. I guess we will just have to see the 1er in person at night after burn-in to see.

Wow, thanks guys. For what I'm looking for, looks like I might be looking around 6000k. If they are $20-$30, I won't mind experimenting.

For years now, BMW has used the same color temp bulb in their cars. The blue you see is actually not the bulb (light output), but refraction from the projector lens itself. The Honda s2000 projectors always look blue, but the light is not. It's the projector.

Sorry, maybe another noob question here, and I thought I saw someone ask this somewhere else, but can't find the answer: I just bought the 7500's that larryn bought (my car is getting on a boat shortly), but do we only need 1 set of bulbs? That is - does one bulb on each side illuminate both rings? :iono: Thanks!

SWEET.............I'm now a "TUNER"

OK, This was so easy even I could do it, and IMHO I love the change, especally with the SGM body color.
Now all I need to do is get rid of the Amber sides on the headlights.

OK, I tried the night pics..........just a big blob of light. Either I or my camera have no idea how to do this shot and make it look like something. The day pics look way better and give the look much better.
