Why window tinting doesn't suck

I know there's a good reason.

or how about because it's 115 bajillion degrees every day in Arizona and it helps keep the heat out and keeps the sun's rays from cracking the dash...

and because I can carry my gun without distracting pedestrians!

I hate it when...

People park that close to you...look at that POS right over the line next to your car. Did it make you furious? That kind of stuff just irks me!

Nice thread?? Although I can say that when old tinting starts to bubble up on cars, it really looks like sh*@.

Where's the "Hell yes I'm getting it tinted!" option?

I don't get it. The OP really doesn't think there is any good reason to tint? Seriously?

The only reason why I dislike tint is because then people can't see that its me driving the sexy new 135 but oh well its too hot down south not to get it.

Its that reason that my uncle refuses to put tint on his SL he likes to show off haha.

I'm 50 - 50 on tint, but these are the downsides I have read on 1Addicts.com

1. Problems with Comfort Access
2. Problems seeing/driving at night
3. Looks like a pimp car
4. Can start to come off after a few years
5. Expensive

I really want to get it but, not too dark and want my comfort access to work properly. I never had tint so I dont know much about it. I'm sure you guys can educate me on these concerns.

1.:iono: did know there was an issue. what is it?
2. Don’t tint the windshield and keep the driver side tint to 20% and this is not an issue
3. Damn straight where my money bytch..JK.. on a luxury car it looks more VIP(limo) than pimp. very eruo style. keep it simple
4. You need to find a good vendor with a good rep in your area. If you are going to keep your car for 4+ years the replacement warranties are worth it, if you get the warranty from a good dealer/installer that has be around for a while
5. $50-$300 . I have seen $50 jobs last 2 years. this is not the norm. this is the crap every one talks about. It depends on what you are looking for but it is a cheap mod to me.

If BMW offers "privacy glass" from the factory as an option on the X3 3.0si & up, why isn't it an option on the 135i?

The tint is in the glass, not squeegeed on.

1. I have Comfort Access and a tint....and No Problems.
2. I'm old and have No Problem seeing out at night ( I do not have tint on the windshield ).
3. I have a light ( 50% ) tint......it's not a pimp looking car.
4. Lifetime warranty with a good 3M tint.....I don't anticipate a problem. Guaranteed not to come off or turn purple.
5. Cost is relative. $235 for a good name brand and quality installation. Is this too much ??? The $50 tint job would probably turn purple and bubble after a short time, so that justifies the cost in my mind.

20% is REAL dark (20% of the light is transmitted). Plus on top of the factory tint built into the glass ( I think I heard it's like 8% or so ) it would be way too dark.
I have 50% and it's a very "mild" tint.
35% is max allowed in my state, so I went with the 50% to stay legal.
