What i did with my front plate
In case anyone was wondering, I got my 128i and HATED the huge black plastic license plate holder that came on it. I live in NJ so i have to have a plate on, and in Northern Bergen County they have nothin better to do than ticket you for not having it. Anyway, they drilled 2 holes in the bumper for the holder, so i took EVERYTHING off, punched 2 holes thru the license plate, so they aligned with the holes that were put in the bumper for the plate holder and attached JUST the plate to the bumoer. Then i folder the bottom inch or so of the plate under the grill, so basically it is JUST a license plate that sits right on the bumper, and nothing hangs over onto the grill of the car and covers the grill. I have been getting lots of questions about it and people are telling me it looks great. Ill try and get pics of it soon, as it may be hard to understand exactly what im talking about.
Figured Id share the idea with some people, and to get some feedback on what you guys thought of it!! |

I wonder if you could cut it by law, or if you're not allowed to.... |

I saw a similar thing done on a Ferrari.
Not a great pic, but you get the idea.

In some European countries (I've seen them on British cars) you can get a sticker in the shape&size of the front plate, which you affix to any part of the bumper. It's mainly used on sports cars with pointy ends.
I wonder if you can get a local graphics company to do one for you, using the front plate as the template...

I remember my mom's Oper GT in Germany has a front license plate sticker. Also Italy has much smaller front plates than rear. Maybe in the US, states could spend a little less time putting stupid slogans on their plates, and give us a few options for the front.

The slogans and graphics on US plates would drive me nuts. Our plates are really slim and plain and you can get them in sticker form like this:

Amen. I live in Texas and we have a cowboy, the space shuttle and (wait for it)... an oil derrick. It's so embarrassing. I have animal friendly plates just to avoid that crap (plus it helps a good cause).

I don't think stickers make it any easier to commit crime. Don't criminals in the US just steal someone else's plate? Quicker and easier than having a fake plate made...

I expect the sticker will look pretty much the same on a 128i as a 123d...
