I just noticed my fog lights don't work
I was noticing while driving that my fog lights didn't seem to make it any brighter (and no the high beams were not on), so I got out of the car and tried the button several times, but the lights are were not coming on at all.
The indicator light on the instrument panel comes on, but no lights... Hmm, could this be a fuse or something, or do they need to be programmed? |

The dial needs to, at least, be on the 'position light' setting for the fog lights to come on although the light in the dash in lit. Let me know what happens.

Even with the low beams on they still do not come on. The indicator light will come on on the dash, but no lights. When I switch off the headlights, the indicator light goes out, so it appears it is doing what it is supposed to be doing, but there are no lights!

Ok, so the dealer is so booked he can't take me until next TUESDAY. They checked a few fuses but had no idea what the problem was. I checked a bunch more fuses and the bulbs (well one of them anyway) tonight and all checked out.... Very weird.

keep on the dealer, it's not like your car's unsafe to drive or anything
but they should have caught that before you took delivery of the car. good luck with getting it fixed, I'm sure they'll fix it, but it'll take at least a day of your time |

Since they introduced the fog sensor you probably won't see the lights come on unless there is ACTUAL FOG.

Maybe there is a relay that was forgotten or maybe is not working. Check the relays as well (wherever they may be) .
Good luck! -Dave C. '06 330i |

Thank you. Good idea! I will try to check those, but I didn't see a relay labeled for the fogs on the schematic. If anyone has a better schematic than me (the cheap one they put in the fuse box) let me know. There was no fuse labeled for the fogs either. Hmmm. I checked most of the fuses and didn't find any blown.
Just an FYI, at least some of the relays are located right on the fuse panel itself, which is behind the glove box rear panel. The fuse box is a real PITA to get to by the way. All new cars are getting like this, and I understand why, but it's just kind of a bummer when you like to do stuff on your own. |

They are called parking lights for a reason. They are also called fog lights for a reason. |

UPDATE: I installed my factory alarm today and my foglights started working. I don't think it had as much to do with installing the alarm as it did with disconnecting the battery for a short time and reconnecting it, though. I am happy to report that my foglights are working now.
BUT, I found a nail in my tire. 1300 miles... Bummer! It looks repairable, and I just want to check again that if the tire hasn't been driven on while flat, and the puncture in toward the middle of the tire and relatively small, that it is safe to repair the tire... I don't think a tire with 30psi pressure in it can be referred to as flat. Your tire had a puncture and was leaking air but hardly flat.
I also don't understand why disconnecting a cable for a little while should suddenly help your fog lights operate but I guess its good that they're working.
