How rare is a Marrakesh Brown Metallic 135?
I really can't find any pictures apart from 1 that was for sale on here and a couple others on Google.
Found a 2013 on Autotrader (to new for me, I want a N54). Looks like another interesting color (at least it's not black, everything I find is black). I'm guessing it's not available prior to 2013? (just my luck) Is it really a nice color in person? |

I would get the color you want. You'll have to live with it everyday. That color is really nice and you don't see it very often. So don't let a engine decide that factor. N55's are slowly catching up the n54's power capabilities.
I've seen the color on others and it is a great color.

It is reminiscent of a 70's color, I can see that. Kinda an Earthy tone.
The car is out of the price range I want to spend. I'm looking low 20's (or below) and this one is 30'something --> http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...ple=BROWN&mmt=[BMW[135I[]][]]&listingId=403818951&Log=0 I see one for $26K ... but nothing with the options I want ... spoke too soon --> http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...ple=BROWN&mmt=[BMW[135I[]][]]&listingId=405304630&Log=0 Only thing it's missing is the M seats, but only because I'd read they are worth it. I've seen a few guys say for longer trips the standard seats just don't feel supportive enough, and I think anyone who tracks their car needs more support. But if they can really be had for cheap, not a deal breaker ... no clue if that $150 estimate is correct. I haven't looked into the N55 much, or ownership costs of newer than '10 (license, insurance, etc.). *edit, I guess I can't link the Autotrader posts ... Anyway. There's one in Denver for $28K. |

I spoke with the owner of that one at some length around 10 days ago. The car does not have sports seats and contrary to what is in the listing I think you would have considerable difficulty replacing the seats with matching leather ones in decent shape for any kind of reasonable price.
The seller believes that this color is "la creme de la creme" and its rarity deserves a couple of extra thou (or more) in resale price, being as he looked for a 135i in that color for 6 months before finding his dream car. I did not agree with his price analysis, and ended up buying a 2013 with half as many miles and 2 years 3 months remaining full original MFR warranty, for the same price as his asking price, but in Black metallic with sport seats. To each his own, I guess. |

Saw a 128i the other day in Brown. Didn't really do anything for me. But, if it's the color you want, look for it. You can always wrap a car, but the original color is always there.

See that's what I'm thinking too. I get hassled enough by the police. I really don't want a car that draws more attention. Plus I've had enough black cars that I'll never own another. I'm getting older and I can't stand spending the entire day detailing to have it rain the next and mess it all up. I'd much rather have something that doesn't show dirt/scratches/chips/etc as bad. Like white. I do like that brown though. Really too bad it wasn't offered in years prior. |

Color fashion is cyclical. Car and paint companies do much research to learn in advance what will be trending. Many other car companies are now releasing brown/orange and other similar earth tones. I had a 2002 for 25 years that was this color, it was called Sienna Brun. Metallic root beer. It was fantastic. Even today Inca orange and golf yellow 2002 s are considered to be highly desirable.
It is forward looking, not old or out of fashion, just coming back into fashion.

Marrakesh Brown with black wheels, CF diffuser and blacklines looks badass IMO. This guy's funny though...He starts off needing to sell the car to pay off students loans to buy a house. Fast forward 10 months he trades it in on a Jaguar!
