so, with my knowledge of dealers (because i work at one) be careful with bluestar motors. This may be a diamond in the rough but if you can, get them to take it to BMW for an inspection. They are a wholesaler so there is a reason why this car is there and not at a name brand dealer. It could be because of the color.. could be because there is something wrong, like i said, get them to send it to Brian Jessel for an inspection. The dealer wont lie to you...but a wholesaler will.

That looks like a sweet deal, but as kayjay128 said, take it to a BMW dealership first...

Are they really down to $20k now?! I paid $42k for my '09 2 years ago. Has 50,000km now so it's worth what... $25k at this dealer? That price makes me suspicious.
OP, if you only got $20k don't buy a BMW especially one out of warranty. Put $10k down and buy a nice CPO 135. Good luck

Had its engine replaced by BMW under BMW warranty in an unrelated instance. I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow, if I like it I will try and haggle it down to $18k? |

20k buys you a 128i in toronto. 128i is your freind, look for 6speed & sport package for the suspension
135i in Toronto are 27K +

Honestly man just save more money now and spend more on a nice CPO 135 at your local dealer. This isn't a Honda or a Hyundai once you get into this car for $18-$19k I bet 2 years down the road your into it for at least $5-$10k in shop/repair bills. Get warranty and don't worry.
If $20k is your budget then a BMW (other than an e46/e36) isn't for you.

I just picked up a 2009 128i for $17,900 in Toronto, it had 100K highway KM with full BMW history, 1 owner, sport package. I was following it online and they dropped it from 20K and I went in the next day and bought it.
Deals are out there to be had. As some others have said, just do a Pre purchase inspection prior to buying and spend some cash refreshing filters, oils etc when you get it so you know these things are fresh. |

...a $15,000 hit on a 135 is a BIG hit.....and the motor issue leads me to believe its been beaten to hell. these cars are meant to be beat on.. but engines aren't usually replaced

In one year I had to bring the car back to dealership twice for repair. Once for the headlight ($5000+ in parts) and another time for an engine repair ($15000+ in parts because they pretty much replaced most of my engine parts). Luckily, I didn't had to pay a dime because I had warranty. During the repairs I had a free rental car to drive and my warranty is good until 2016 (3 years new car warranty + 2 years CPO on top of new car warranty). If I didn't buy the car as CPO, I don't know if they will still honor those repairs but for sure I know I won't get the free rental. Which would've caused me thousands of dollars (almost 2 months in total for both repair). If you can't afford the premium for a CPO, then as many have suggested be prepared to pay thousands for repairs/maintenance (especially if you get older models). You may be lucky and not need to spend those money but if you don't have it you may be out of luck when bad things happen.

took a huge accident
1. lots of front end repair incl. AC recharge, many new suspension parts, new hood, many other front end & underneath parts.
2. 3 wheels had to be re-finished. 3. 2 new tires, RF & LR; whats the wear on the other two? 4. new muffler at over $1000; how did that get so damaged? Sounds like car went off road and severely damaged at lot underneath. MUST, MUST get car inspected at a body shop All that being said, for $20K you can't go too wrong HOWEVER a beat on car like these twin turbos can get frightfully expensive off warranty. I'd pass; too may other nice cars out there for sale privately. Buy in the USA if you have to. I've bought 4 in USA PRIVATELY with no regrets and no huge repair expenses. |

I imagine this warranty is through bluestar?...make sure you read the fineprint on that too.. and a hit like that, i'd be running the other way. This car must have been destroyed...and seems like it should have been written off.
I have a 2004 X3 that was a rebuild, the ONLY reason i bought it, was because of where it was hit. it basically took the passenger front and rear doors off and all the airbags... if it had been a front hit.. again, would have run the other way. why not look at something along these lines and haggle the price down? http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rc...683809442.html This all said, its totally your decision...we all just have opinions

If OP is questioning a $20,000 purchase he shouldn't be buying a high mileage beat up 135. Just my opinion.

Yeah I agree that he shouldn't pick up a beat up 135i for 20K, but maybe the OP should take a look and find a nice 128i with sport or m sport package for 20K with a full history. OP - I would pass on this and find something cleaner with no accidents and if you can spend some extra money on a CPO that's always good. |

You could always look at my 128i in Calgary...Check out my thread. It is a clean car, with two sets of tires/rims, and runs, and drives perfect!!
