The end to brake dust?
Or, for some of our American cousins: "The end to break dust?"
As we all know, brake dust on the 1 series is probably the worst reoccuring event. It drives me mad(der than I already am) and I have to clean them weekly. I was in SuperCheap the other day (my best choice after Marlows was sold off to them) and I saw this product and bought one: So, last Saturday, in the interests of science and with 1Addicts firmly in mind, I applied it - as per the destructions - to the passenger front wheel only. Here's the drivers side wheel today (1 week later): It had rained during the week, so not quite as bad as I would otherwise expect. So, the verdict, looking at the (treated) passenger wheel: I think it's cut and dried, don't you? Other than several sections on what I assume was probably the top or bottom of the wheel and one small section where it would appear I missed it, the thing's damed near perfect. I'll be buying more. Thanks Amour All! I hope this helps someone... PS: I don't know what the mark is across the 'M' on the drivers side, it's not actually there. It must have been a reflection.

Excellent Simon. Dr Karl would be proud!!
I've noticed that my dust is much less now my pads are bedded in but I'll have to give this a go. Hopefully there's no side effects from the stuff. Cheers.

I have used this for a while on my Subaru and it works well. Haven't used it on the 135i yet. I was told by Final Inspection (Melbourne Detailer) to be careful with the product as it contains silicon and I shouldn't get it on the brakes.
There is a thread on it on Final Inspections forum http://www.finalinspection.com.au/fo...ighlight=armor |

As I have eluded to in previous threads on the topic, this product is magic!
My car got it's 6-weekly wash this morning and all I did was blast the wheels with the high pressure hose. I then used the ENJO glove with car detergent to get into the tight spots and rinsed with the hose. After the wheels were dry I applied two coats of Wheel Protectant. Will repeat in 6 weeks time when I wash the car again!

Thanks aml2912, I must have missed the previous aludings . DTNJNQ, I made a point of trying to avoid getting it on the brake disc as it seemed the sensible thing to do.

I have had some PoorBoys Alloy Wheel Polish sitting on the shelf to try out. I just haven't had the time to go through the whole procedure and have the car sitting still for that long... unless I find a spare wheel or something.
That ArmorAll looks much easier. How does it apply? For my tyre stuff, I apply it to a foam offcut ($0.50 from Clarks rubber) and then on to the tyre, which saves overspray. Will it work the same way or too foamy? |

For my tyre stuff, I use a Meguirs can which has an adjustable nozzle and it doesn't foam which suits the low profiles perfectly.

That is fantastic. Thanks for the comparison. At the moment I am using Aerospace 303 protectant on the wheels (which I also use for the interior). It works to an extent to prevent excessive brake dust but it is working out to be uneconomical.

I must be a sad puppy! I just wash them every week :iono: then hit the tyres with Meguiars gel.
Thank god they are a simple wheel, unlike my the M3 19s (they suck, very bad for the complexion). |

Opps, I did the exact same thing last Saturday night/Sunday morning (I did three coats) and have to say at the end of this week the wheels look completely clean in comparison to before.
