Congratulations! Can't wait to see more photos of your car out in the Wild in CO. I've heard that you are considering taking the 1M to the track.... and you have the E46 ix.. will the 1M be summer only?

I hope I didn't mislead anyone..... I have never been to the track, but I'm planning on doing that with the 1M! I have soooo much to learn, like where to get track day insurance. I would hate for something to happen to this car. Also my last car wonderful as it is, titanium silver E46x1.... I never had to wash it.... it just looks fairly clean even when it's fairly dirty. I now know why people avoid black cars..... I've driven this one 60 miles and it's filthy.... dust mainly. Is there a good thread on the care and feeding of BSM paint? I've been looking. Just a little delivery tidbit- When I walked in the door at the dealership that I took courtesy delivery at they told me there was someone who was willing to take the car off my hands and give me $5000. Someone who was going there to buy and M5 saw it in the showroom and stopped wanting the M5. |

Congrats!!!! My VO hides dirt and dust fairly well, but nothing compared to our Ti Silver. How much did the dealer charge you for CD?

Congrats!
At last you can finally push that M button, push the pedal and sing aloud "LaLa-LaLa-LaLa-Lala 1M Torque" on the music of "Elmo's Song". Which name did you finally choose for your BSM ? |

I can't believe I am sharing this.... Günther Schwarz after my first German car mechanic, he was the only one that could wrangle the exhaust system of my Jetta.

Congrats... Its been a long wait for you.. looking good.... and the Car also
Enjoy the car... get past the dust and drive the Ba&%s off of it.. as far as track ins. look up your local BMWCCA or SCCA and see when they have true HPDE's most insurance will cover HPDE's but you have to check first.. If not then you can get daily track insurance for stated value by these guys >> http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Default.aspx and those offers of 5k are sometimes very real.. I say keep it !! Regards..

Congrats on the new ride! Looks great. To answer your question, sadly, there really isn't any magical recipe for keeping a black car looking pristine at all times. I owned 2 black cars back to back and they used to be a part time job for me.
Best you could do is employ the common techniques to keep your paint looking as good as possible over time (i.e.: 2 bucket wash systems - I personally use 3 buckets, microfiber everything, good shampoo/sealant/wax/detailing products, etc). |
