I use my left foot for braking. I keep throttle with my right foot that s were i control the drift angle with. With my left on the brake i control the speed in the slide. So if the entry speed to the next corner is too high i left foot brake in the slide and maintain the angle with throttle. So you need to have a very good feel in both feet, you need to be perfect.
sometimes in a long drift you see still the brake light. Thats because on the road i always have my left foot on the brake pedal in cornering or drifts. That s also for safety reasons. If the grip changes i can react fast to get the speed out of the car/drift. Hope this explains. Here is very old movie from me (bad quality) were you have footage of left foot braking in drifting. I also use left foot braking in racing cars because you can react faster. I learned at 9 years old when i started racing Karts. Here is movie me using left foot braking in racing car. more breaking and much less clutching then I expected.
Your teammate seems to prefer right foot breaking (heel toe style), remarkable difference in technique. Nice stuff, always a joy to watch, keep those videos coming. And even better to get your personal commentaries on them!! |

Are you sure? I always thought he has some stock in Plastidip®.
Anyway, we had a fun time last wednesdaynight without snow but a bit wet passing trees sideways > 100mph/160kmh. Handbraketurns. I almost felt sorry for the black 1M No need to change my wheels this week Andre, what do you think? No snow just 0-2/3 celsius thursday and friday. We 'll see. Cheers Robin |

Snow over The Netherlands and Belgium since last Monday.
Hm, I got a sneaky suspicion that Snow Drift ///Meister Advevo is skidding and drifting around these days. Okay André, enlighten us all, please give us some tips and tricks on how to get away from a snowy uphill/steep road with a 1M: the official driving school tips ...and your personal tips (also DSC Off + ///M Mode off + 2nd gear + avoid braking/losing pace ?). The point is, the 1M has the Automatic Hill Assist (uphill anti-rollback) as standard feature. Hence, impossible to deactivate (except through coding maybe or if you start coordinating clutch + neutral gear). So, as soon as you push the brake, you lose the momentum (got to wait for a second or two before the 1M starts to roll back). With the M3 SMGII it was not automatically activated feature: activate at will by operating the left shift paddle (however, more difficult to resume moving on uphill slippery road surfaces after a standstill, compared to a manual transmission [where your choice of gear is not overruled by the ECU management]). |
