black is best of those 2 but why not the hyper black or anthracite? Less common colors you know.

The window trim is silver...so trying to avoid introducing another metallic color with anthracite

Hyper black. Anthracite balances window trim well.
Otherwise silver if you like your trim

Hyper black would look killer - a nice dark metallic silver that would compliment the black while still calling a modest amount of attention to the wheels.

Here are a couple photos to help you visualize the two finishes:

Satin Black:

Hyper Silver:

Hopefully that helps with the decision.

Gotta go for some contrast IMO. Silver would be my choice of the two options you put up..

To keep it looking clean and OEM, silver for the contrast.

The big difference maker here is if you have shadow trim or not - if you do, go with the satin black, I have satin black and jet black and get compliments daily...I never would have thought to do it but it looks unreal.

If you don't have shadow trim then go with the something silver.

Smile

For most, this will be really simple.

Want to emphasize the lines of the car, and downplay the wheels? Like a more unified look? Black.

Want to emphasize the aftermarket wheels, at the cost of drawing less attention to the car? Like a decorated look? Silver.

I like the unique lines of the car more than yet another alloy wheel, and like the cleaner look of one lump rather than 3, so I'd go black.

Another way to tell what someone wants. Which do they prefer? Black kidney grills with a chrome edge, or all black? Checkout the grills in the above photos. Also the wheel caps.

Thanks guys, fantastic advice so far! Ive put off buying a few more days because I cant decide...now Im also considering Hyper Black and Anthracite. See below. I think Satin Black is out...Its just too dark and don't want my wheels darker than my tires, looks bad in my opinion. But the anthracite might solve that. my concern with the Hyper Black is it looks in pictures to have a chrome look to it, i hate chrome.

I know I'm not much help, but here is Hyper Black on my Silver 128i

I was concerned with a chrome look, but IMO it looks nothing like that.

I agree with what the others said. If you want to get a nice contrast go with the silver.

The black will definitely make the car look "different" than most other 1ers.

If it were my car and based on the pictures I saw, I would go with the black. I think it looks a little sleeker and a bit more "sinister." The silver looks a little more "pretty."

I wouldn't go with satin black on a black car unless you want the murdered out all black look. This is Anthracite on blue.
