WOW, do I miss my heated leather seats :(
I'm in NJ. Its been really cold and snowing lately. When I bought my 128 over the summer I had two options...
A blue 128 mport with Premium, no HID A CPO, silver 128 msport, no premium, with HID I chose the CPO becuase I wanted the HID and thought losing the heated leather wouldnt be a big deal. Well, I can honestly say, I do miss it, alot. That is all. |

You might ask some good upholstery shops in your area. I am sure they must know of an aftermarket kit for heated seats. BMW offered one for awhile too. Btw... I just LOVE my heated seats too. In my DD e39 it doesn't have heated seats and I miss that, even though it has cloth sport seats(e39) heated seats would be wonderful!

can you retrofit heated seats?
i'd never buy a car without them....mainly because my wife would not be happy! (she has them on all the time in the fall/winter). |

I have to agree with the others. Heated seats are a must have going forward. And a stick, but that goes without saying.

My 128, which I don't drive during winter, has heated seats. I use them frequently, even sometimes during summer. Anyone with a sketchy back understands that.
My former Focus beater (bought it new in '05) had heated seats, but some bonehead drunk shale gas worker totaled it, while it sat in front of my apartment. My "replacement" Focus doesn't have them, and I miss it. I won't go without heated seats again. |

I've had them and frankly do not care for them. Simply do not like that feeling of my a$$ on fire.
I'm simply into less is more. No heated seats. No electric seats. No sunroof. I just want a car that performs. Everything else is just superflous. |

FYI...I had heating pads installed in my 135i seats w/button controls. My BMW dealer had a 3rd party install them for me. Check with your dealer or others in the area. It was $600.

I don't hate them, my wife has them, but I am also fine without them. She loves them, however, and says all future calls must have them.

I believe there is a DIY on retrofitting heated seats. It seems like a pain in the ass, but I think it's well worth it!
This is made for the e93/e92...but it should somewhat be compatible with our cars as well...correct me if I'm wrong. |

I've not been much of a heated seat fan, though the last several cars we've owned have had them. Even in our CO Rocky mountains winters I only occasionally use them for short periods to take the chill off.
When I bought my '13 128i vert earlier this year, it came with the cold weather package which includes both heated seats and a heated steering wheel. Putting the top down changes everything, with the heated seats and steering wheel usefully extending the weather range when the top can go down. Just this afternoon I took an hour or so ride with temps in the 47-50F range. Seat and steering wheel heat on made the whole experience oh so civilized. I suppose the narrowing temperature comfort range that goes along with aging (me, not the car) may have something to do with it as well. |

wooow wooooow boys...don't you know these heated seats slow the car down and cut down on its auto cross abilities!
There was a story in the Brazilian issue of Motor Trend where they compared a 135i with heated seats to a 135i with out and well the one with heated seats was 0.00001 seconds slower due to reduced rigidity of the lumbar support and the 2kg of weight of the system. And when it finished the car exploded and killed all the nuns in the stand! The driver on the other hand was just fine…the aftermarket super light airbag saved him. >>>is what any fan boy ricky racer would say about heated seats<<< For the rest of us….OMG I miss them! My X wife’s Turbo Beetle S had them and well they were a god send! I skydive and let me tell you in the early spring and late fall when the air temp at 14k is like….0F and you are sitting on the floor of an unheated airplane up to altitude…those heated seats saved your ass! And as other have said it really extends the time you can drive around comfortably with the windows and the sun roof down! |

HA HA HA! Nice!
Love having the heated seats on and the moonroof open in the summer. With my back the way it is, I have the heated seats on pretty much year round. |

I like them and my gf LOVES them. I swear she gets in the car and puts the heated seat on full power. Leaves it like that the entire ride and usually passes out lol. I turn mine on to get the seat warm then turn it off. I don't like my nuts getting all roasted.
