Winter Warning Light

It was 3C out this evening when I took the car out. When I started the car a snow flake appeared on the dash...warning me its cold out?
Anyone else see this yet?

I see it sometimes.
Always in the winter, but I do see it now and then in no snow conditions.
I guess it's just being extra cautious?

Mine came on two days ago and again tonight. It's just a warning so that the driver knows that there may be freezing occurring on the roads. It's friggin annoying but it's smart if you're, say, on a drive longer than 20 minutes and don't know what the temperature is outside.

According to the manual it is completely normal to see the Winter warning light. I wonder if it will come on everyday when it is actually Winter. That's 4 months of beeping hmm..

I think Jeremy Clarkson would have a good comment to that. Something better than, "I know it's cold out there is snow" He always seems to complain about the beep when the door is open.

It's a black ice warning...ie: temps are such that black ice can form on the road. The warning will only come on at +3C...if you're below that, it won't chime on...it's the crossing of the temp threshold that does it.

Does anyone feel like the reading is off a little. This morning the radio was saying current is 0 degrees but the car was reading 2.5 degrees. That's a significant difference, no?

It did in my 3 series. The way the cars handle inclement weather is 100% reassuring, if you get into a potential slick situation in winter or a hydroplane in summer the car will notify you and disengage the cruise control system.

It does and it is annoying. I think it's totally ridiculous. Just like the fricking gong.
