Who got hit by the mega-hailstorm in Perth today?

A couple of weeks after Melbourne it was our turn today.

Out of nowhere the mother of all storms hit Perth around evening rush hour and pummelled the city with hailstones ranging up to golf ball size along with torrential rain, the likes of which hasn't been seen in a decade.

Fortunately I wasn't in my beloved E90 M3 but was sitting in the Hyundai. Jeez it's scary having the crap smacked out of your tinny car! Believe it or not I can't see any dents...maybe the soft bendy Korean metal absorbs the impact and disperses the energy??

The wife and kids got absolutely clobbering in the X5 on the freeway but I haven't seen any major damage. Will check in the day light.

Unfortunately, the combo of hail blocking the gutters and the torrential rain cause a flood in my theatre and shorted out my amp, blu-ray and sub. There's a good $10,000 in insurance claims plus water damage to the walls and carpet. Bugger!

Hope all Perthites fared better than I did.

I avoided the storm for the most part. Car was in multistory carpark for the hail but did some sailing through rivers to get to the south bound freeway. No damage. House had suffered little damage, though will require an electrician to come out and replace some water logged security lights. I've been sent some crazy pics though of the storm. Might try and upload some.

mine was parked undercover in west perth thankgod.

but looking out the window onto hay street all the cars and busses just stopped where they were and got hit, HARD! was a pretty awesome site to see.

We stayed in the office until 8.30 when the roads were clear and tooted off home only to find most of the traffic and street lights all the way through to maddington were out. awesome fun though

my mates got video of people trying to drive through massive puddles even though there are cars already stuck in there up over their bonnet. idiots!!

Yeah ten past four it opened up. Osborne Park (where I work) copped the worst of it according to our insurance brokers.

After it stopped I measured the biggest hail storm after it stopped at 60mm accross - landed in our the offfice garden, so intact. Absolute carnage out there last night. Never seem anything like it here.

Fortunately we have undercover parking but a car parked accross the road copped it bad, every window plus the windscreen on one newish Camry, with every panel dented.

Family at school had their E70 X5 and C63 absolutely pummelled - the X5 looked like the surface of a golf ball and the C63 had the windscreen smashed as well as severe panel damage. He only got the C63 in January.

Here's something stange....I get home this afternoon and my pool water has gone black!!! There's a very fine black sediment in the pool. Obviously related to yesterday's mother-of-all-storms.

Anyway, I wonder if there will be any hail-damage car sales in the next week or two? I reckon there'd be a few Astons that were caught outside at Barbagallo's in Osborne Park.

What's the news on your X5 mate?

DAMN that's some crazy shit, I saw it on the news today. Video footage of a motorbike rider getting absolutely PUMMELED.

Hope the insurance claim works out well for you!

The X5 has two very slight dents on the bonnet. Very lucky indeed! I reckon the cost of fixing the two pock marks may fall below the $300 policy excess.

How's this for crap luck.......the bloke three doors down brought is new E90 M3 home on the weekend (much to my dismay as I was enjoying my exclusivity in the street). I saw him and a few family members gathered around the car this morning so I guess he must have copped it bad on the soft aluminium bonnet! Bummer....

The hail hit my place in West Perth just as I was finishing wrapping the 135 in bubble wrap, inside the garage.

Unfortunately, there was no room for my wife's Honda because I put too much bubble wrap around my car!!

Actually, we are having a pergola built and the materials were dropped off today (nice timing) and I couldn't get her car in. It was parked under a tree out on the street which helped.

Damage is not as bad as many I have seen but it has dozens of good dents on the boot, roof and rear quarter panels. No idea how they will fix the roof.

Will post some pics once I have cleaned it up a bit.

The lightning was simply awesome. All type and absolutely non stop. Quite enjoyed the storm until I realised the car was damaged.

anyone know where to pick these cheap cars up from soon? im guessing to just keep looking at pickles auctions

weve been looking at a patrol/landcruiser and it was only going to be used for offroad/travelling the country so a hail damaged one would be perfect!

OMG...jeez so sorry to see that. I thought I'd seen bad yesterday! SCGH area must have got hit worse than we did in the northern burbs.

Seriously mate, I'd be pushing for a total write-off and a new car. There's a hell of a lot of work there and I don't really think the costs would be justified.
