Random thoughts about 1M

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Every time I am thinking about selling 1M, I take it out for a spin only to realize once again how lucky I am to have a car like this. I never keep my cars for more than a year, but I think I might keep this one for a while. Anyone else feels this way?

Does your significant other reads this forum too ?

In the future there will always be cars which are more modern, eye-appealing, powerful, etc. But sometimes we simply got to enjoy what we got.

Never call your significant other 'old' in the future. Call her/him 'vintage'.

A nice testimony of enthusiasm (and elegantly pictured) about a vintage car: an Inka Orange BMW 2002. Alike the 1M: clearly a keeper too.

Agreed

Any thought of selling quickly erode when I think about The reasons. What else could I need/want in a "fun" car? Nothing!

Never selling!

I feel you on this. Every time I think I'm getting used to the car, something happens that makes me realize how special it is.
Just yesterday a guy in a Cayman S pulled up me in a parking lot and talked to me about the 1M.

When I put my name on the waiting list (they only got to me!) I thought might be a keeper, but now after owning for a year, I KNOW it is. Unless drives me nuts someday with BMW electrical crap, will expect to have for my useful life (Iam already 60.)

I have already decided that it will be a 1 owner car and when it comes time for me to get an M2 or an M3 or M4 the 1M will still take its space on my garage floor.

Same here. I will own an M5 or similar one day, in addition to a 2011 1 Series M Coupe.

There are some very good deals on M3s and M5s in the UK at the moment and I have been tempted to swap the 1M for an M5. The trouble is I just can't face the thought of selling it!

Same here. I'm 64 and before I lucked into my 1M, was looking at a 335d as my last car before the nursing home.

I haven't considered selling my 1M at all. It will be with me a very long time. Unfortunately I completely drove my 1972 2002tii to death or I may still have it as well.

I just purchased a Second owner 2004 330i ZHP with only 52000 miles in Perfect condition today as my Daily Driver to replace my 05 WRX STi. The STi is for sale.

1M, there is no substitute (at the moment)....

If money allows it I don't see myself drifting like a lunatic through the snowy streets and backroads in my 458/F12/LFA...

OK, a RS200/Delta S4/205 T16 comes close(/jk they are extraterrestrial) , the money doesn't.

Ford Escort Mk2 BDA. Also 70k euros...

New Polo WRC car...

I need to win the lottery.

Cheers
Robin

I sc**wed up at the track and I still have mine. It's all better now with a no expense spared restoration out my own pocket.

Lots of love affairs out there, let's see how long they last when the trouble starts.

That's a hoot! Reminds me of the youngsters in my office yelling at me when I drive them to Friday lunch. You would think they didn't enjoy drifting if you didn't know better.

I have been dealing with these thoughts this as of late as well OP. I love the 1M, it is perfect in almost every aspect for me, but there is still issues. I am working in Saudi Arabia currently on their air ambulances. My wife is not confindent with a manual car when I am not with her, so it just sits. I hate to pay a note on a car that is not being driven. I would love to get something that has similar performance but that I know she can drive when I am away. I have been looking it the Audi TTS as of late, not the TTRS that is a manual only as well, I can pick up a CPO 2011 with less miles than the 1M for around 40k. I know it is smaller and not as fast, but the interior looks nice and it is a DCT. It is such a hard thing to make these decision, I have not driven a TTS so unitl I do, it just looks nice in pictures.
