wider front fenders needed, and new track rims

Hello 1addicts,

this is my first post so let me introduce myself, i am an avid car enthusiast who when shopping around for a dd driver looked at the 135 and 370z, as my name eludes I ended up going with the 370z and and am still loving it.

I do however have a connection with you 1 addicts as I will be racing a 135 coupe chassis with my father as team this year and we are currently running full slicks ( 235 square 640 dunlops) which are great and offer tremendous grip. However as I want to get more practice in we are thinking of buying some performance street tires to learn more about car control and slip angles when I am just lapping and not full out racing.

For the races slicks will be used, but for lapping we would like to use aggressive street tires. Herein lies the problem as our current front fenders are oem replicas in carbon, the tire clearance is about 2 mm on our current slick set up and I feel we would need beefier tires than 235 upfront and in the rear to be able to put the power down (280hp to the wheels), the rears will accept beefier tires with some fender rolling ( using 18 x 9 inch rims currently, offset unknown). So in short do any of you 1addicts know any aftermarket widebody front fenders that would allow for larger rims and tires to be mounted on the front so that I have some grip upfront, I dont think 235 street tires will be able to cut it.

In addition, I have been looking into a second set of rims and stumbled upon the apex rims which look great, does anyone have any other recommendations.

thanks in advance,

Jay

Several folks run 245 or 255 street tires on the front with the Apex rims and camber plates and totally stock fenders. Beyond that, yes you will need something different. I've run a 255/35 Star Spec square set up on my Apex wheels with great results
