Anyone with JB4 install experience in the ATX?
Hello to all,
I'm a recent convert to the N54 universe. History has been E39 540i6 and Beast, also ZHP '04 6mt. Love my '08 135 6mt coupe and just received JB4 with DCI. I'm fairly adept at easy to moderate wrenching but not experienced at all with tuning upgrades and installs, except for Shark Injector. Question: Anybody out there in the Austin, TX area with JB4 install experience that could side-by-side with me during the process? Willing to pay a consulting fee! Thanks. |

This melts my heart. Don't forget to check out your local regional forums for people in your area that would be willing to help you out.

You can do it! Follow the instructions exactly and you will be fine, it seems difficult when you have all the wires in front of you but they are color coded and really only fit a certain way.

It's not too bad of an install. Have you seen this video?

Was able to link up with Mitchie and get the JB4 installed yesterday evening. He just needed to get everything put back together and enjoy the new horsepower!

Oh man, installing my JB4 freaked me out the first time. I was an IT pro once upon a time so wires and circuitry normally don't scare me at all, but it was a dive into the unknown! And on a machine worth as much as these, but I digress.
That being said, the instructions by BMS are impeccable. Follow along, pay attention to what you are doing, and you literally can not go wrong. Even if you do, the troubleshooting section will define exactly what you did wrong and explain how to fix it. I've done installs for local folks and after all that and I can say with 100% confidence... You can do it!
