No expert here, but it would seem that the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system, which can apply breaks to individual wheels that are slipping as well as possibly reduce engine output, can achieve some of the benefits of an LSD (Limited Slip Differential).

No they don't, and you cannot order it factorywise like you could with E30 E34 in the past
It's a pity only M-models benefit from having a limited slip diff. DSC/DTC is never a substitute for a real mechanical LSD(having had a E46 M3): I just keep having the inside rear wheel spinning thus not having REAL traction at all. |

My E90 has LSD. In fact, today it think it had a bad flashback. Good thing I was there to calm it down. I think Live 8 reminded it too much of Woodstock and kicked off the whole phsycadelic experience.
