I will get slayed for this but...new M3 or...wait for it...Cadillac ATS-V. Seems like they got the chassis right in that thing and both rumored engines sound internesting (TTV6 or new-gen LSV8). Blasphmey I know but, it's tempting.

Im going to keep my 1 for about 3 years longer. It will be paid off by then and still retain some decent resale values.
I love my 1, but I never buy the same car twice. Im pondering a 09 M3 or older M3. I dont have a lot of confidence in BMW going foward. Cars are really getting heavy and bloated. |

Reviews have praised the ATS's engine and chassis, but the reviewers were disappointed with the tranny.

I'm already driving my 135i replacement. I miss many things about the 1er but am overall quite happy with the replacement.

Yes, I've read that too, but I am thinking (hoping) they have a completely different driveline for the V model. Especially after the bad press about the tranny -

That is a tough question. My 135 is paid off, and I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon, so I would probably just add another car to the stable instead. My ideas for another car are all over the board though as I would consider:
BMW E39 M5 BMW Z4 M Coupe Alfa Romeo GTV ('67 - '76) Porsche 911 (930, 964, 993) Ford Mustang Boss 302 Audi RS4 I'll also be interested to see what any potential BMW M2 or Z2 will be like if/when they become available.

Looked at a '13 S4 last week. Only car I am interested in atm. Would be dumb financially actually, so I think I will wait a year or so.
The short list: S4 Next Gen redesigned 1/2 series. Next Gen Acura TL (pry '14 will be a redesign) Subi BRZ Turbo /fingers crossed

Probably going to go practical with 5 series awd TT (likely the 35, maybe the 50), or the ATS V if it turns out as good as it should be.

F430 Scuderia. Dare to dream, right?
Of course, I'll be driving the 1 for a long time as it's still the car that best suits my needs, and I'm going to need years to save up for the above. |

I was looking at a CTS V but horrible customer-service and bad MPG.
Having trouble pulling the trigger on a ISF... And found a lot of low mile C63 AMGs under 50k. But really want a 2012 SLK AMG cool car..

No complaints about my '08 128i Cabrio after 40k miles - but it's being traded for a new 981 Boxster. I'll keep my '07 328i touring as a DD.

First of all I think the first 3 cars are well matched and make sense ( decent space via rear seat or hatched rear, relatively evenly matched power, smaller stature)
#4 seems a bit put of place from the above points as well as it's the only one with a v8, totally different character. Regardless my thoughts below On the respective #'ed car 1). 235i; overall great car, amazing power (torque=king), style, and handling are superb. Dont bother with the 4cy turbo, drive them and you'll know why. 2) tt is a great car and will be a tank in the winter, but won't have the power feeling of the 235 3) z is a great car, no big complaints except that it's not as tunable as 235. 4). Not for me, but great bang for the buck. I'd rather have a used e92 m3. I'd pick the 235 or tt rs (if that was a choice) (for reference it seems like u have some well balanced options around 40k, good choices, but I think the c7 doesn't fit |

Most likely a 2012 Porsche 987 CPO, was always lucky with 3 Year old CPO cars, price is right and warranty is 3 Years.

The same question has been troubling my mind recently, so below you'll see the options I've been looking at. They're all in the low to mid 40s (for what appears to be a good one):
Audi RS4 Porsche 911 (993) Porsche 911 (997) Left field choice (and a possible nightmare): Aston Martin DB7 coupe. It looks soooo good!! If you don't mind having an automatic: Mercedes C63 Mercedes SL550 If staying with BMW: E92 M3 Or for much less money and more "M feel" an E46 M3. Is it just me or are those looking better and better every day? The new Cayman should be pretty hot as well, since it should look very similar to the gorgeous new Boxster. More expensive though. |
