1M Car Insurance in the US
Hey guys,
Can all of you who live in the US say how much you're currently paying for your 1M insurance (full year)? I'm about to move this year and I'd like to know how much it's going to set me back. Thanks! |

Usually being married costs you! But in this particular case of insurance married should pay less

Have you been a US resident before? Do you have a SS#? Most US insurance carriers now use credit rating as part of your risk score. If you have poor or no credit rating in the states expect high rates.

When staying beyond 6 months, federal policy will require you to take your state drivers license test at the back of the line from a lot of 16-year-olds. Consider it to be a crash course on US local culture; The video education on defensive driving was made in the eighties and for that reason quite special. When residing in Manhattan, you'll be visiting beautiful Westchester in the tri-state area for the drivers test. Hope you have great overall experience as we did. |

I've actually lived 7 years in the states and still have my expired California DL. However this will be my first time owning a car in the US! Thanks for the heads up on geico.com! Will definitely check it out! |

I'm paying just under $1900 a year. I know I'm paying way to much because my agent enrolled me in to an additional life insurance policy plus something else that I don't need. I've just been to lazy to call and get other rates. Once my girlfriend and I get married I'm going to put the car in her name. Her insurance on her X3 is dirt cheap and she has a nearly identical plan through State Farm.

I am married, living is Va, age 70, and paying about $900/yr for my Ins. I do get a discount for a "two car" policy... and I guess age helps and no big claims...

The car is only a factor for the value you replace it if you total it how much the company will have to pay out.
Your driving record is one. The miles you drive. The zip code you live in. Discounts = life /home /auto /professional /BMW assist / good driver discount / multi car discount If your in California I'd be happy to give you rates. Let me know what state and I'll refer you to another agent. I have three 2013 bmws and only pay about 1000$ a year for each 250/500/100 bi and 500 ded |

FWIW the 1M is cheaper to insure than the 135is because it was a 2011 model and the 135is is a 2013 model and I pay close around $2200 a year to insure it in Brooklyn. Brooklyn has higher rates than Manhattan from what I know, however. |

Interesting! I am paying exact same (1100 USD equivalent/year) on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, guess all that water doesn't make a difference when it comes to insurance rates.

You should re-evalute your coverage as it's not very good! you have VERY LOW coverage for everything and a very high deductible $2500? that's very high). I have $500 as my deductible and A LOT more coverage for bodily injury and liability ($100k and $300k instead of $25k and $50k you have) and wouldn't keep it any less. If something does happen....your insurance will struggle to meet the demands of the other parties and you will have to pay out of pocket or get sued on top of the insurance claim. Not saying anything will happen....BUT your coverage is very low which is why your rates are so low! Last edited by IEDEI; 03-14-2014 at 12:26 PM.. |
