Unhappy Seems I have a leak :(

I found a small puddle of oil in the garage under my car today so I lifted it to see what's going on and I found this;

This is towards the middle of the car. I'm guessing it's the back of the transmission (I have a 6AT btw). Anyone know what it could be?

I have an appointment with my dealer tomorrow morning.

If its RED-ish in color then i'm betting its your trans... Specifically The sealing sleeve for an internal control unit / harness.

If it is oil ( which it could be ) dripping from the front and ending up at the rear, ill go with the oil filter housing gasket...

But it looks more like the sealing sleeve to me...

warranty either issue, better to get it fixed asap, as BMW trannies are very picky about fluid level.

Good Luck, let us know what they say by reporting back and completing the thread for future "searchers"

yeah, it seems to me it's near where the trans hooks up to the driveshaft, but its very hard to see under there. So far I haven't got any warning lights.

I'll report back what it is tomorrow

So it turned out to be just the gasket on the transmission wasn't sealing right or something. Dealer got it fixed for me the same day for no charge
