Talking about the N55 they say
"With 300 hp and 300 lb.-ft. (407 Nm) of torque, this engine manages better than 25 mpg (9.4 L/100 km) during heavy-footed evaluation by WardsAuto editors in October."

How heavy a foot do you need to average 9.4L/100km, I can't get anywhere near that good economy.
BMW have always made fantastic engines, they're truly driver oriented cars compared to every other mainstream manufacturer.

Yep that sounds right, must have something to do with the aerodynamics of the 3er compared to the 1er
