HAS ANYONE taken the headlights apart yet?

i did on my audi TT and removed the stupid amber reflectors and put smoked ones in...looked great and my fav cosmetic mod...i wanna do the same with these...took mine apart with taking off clips and using a heat gun@! used silicone and heat gun to put back together..never any issues...when it gets warmer im gonna attempt this...anyone else?

ya it will look sick as long as i can figure out what to do once i have them apart...prolly held in by molded tabs or clips and might leave some holes after removing...

Good luck with the HID...I did the same with my Jetta except I put them in the oven at 300 degrees for about 25 or 30 mins and they pulled right apart then put them back in to seal them up again. I'm not sure how this will work out though. Good luck if you try it.

shouldnt matter...i had the Xeons in the TT the ballast and headlight housing came apart quite nice...i havnt looked at these too much tho when its warmer i will

I did this mod on my s4 back in 2000, but not sure how these headlights are held together. On the 335 I traded in, I didn't have to worry about it as the coupes didn't have the amber.

thats why nobody has taken the reflectors out.
i hate the amber so much though!

yea 1150 - 1300 for a set. I'd like to know where the person saying the headlights can't be baked open got their info from.

i looked into doing this a few months back and the general consensus around that time was that these headlights are sealed using a compound that cant be undone via heat.
i might be wrong though.

yeah do a search this was already covered but " with the newer headlights, BMW permanently sealed the units so you cannot just bake them open."
