So my car did a funny thing today.

I have a 2009 128i with 81k miles on it. For a couple months now it's been starting a little weak. Today it decided to not start at all about 4 times (removing the key, putting it back, I even went outside and locked the car for 30 seconds and went back inside - nothing) until finally it started. I'm leaving the car in the garage (so far it's been 3 hours off) and hopefully this doesn't happen in the morning.

When the car wasn't starting, it would tick one time and every light would turn on with an ! In the yellow screen then my service light for my brake fluid. No check engine light. Haven't plugged a computer in it yet.

Thinking it could be the starter going out? Or for some reason my fuel pump?

Anyone have this happen to you?

I call this the "80k Mile Curse"

Sounds like a weak battery.
Was the engine turning over?

I don't think it's the battery because the lights still turned on. As for turning over, it didn't. It was almost like pressing the start button without putting your foot on the brake. But my foot was on the brake and when I pushed the start it ticked 1 time

^ Yep, what he said. Happened to my wife's 2011 128i at right around the 3-year mark, and even the tow truck BMW sent to pick it up couldn't jump it. Battery was gone; replaced by dealership (car still under warranty), and the car has run better ever since. I think the original factory battery was probably at about half-capacity when it was delivered, but we never really noticed it until after it was replaced. Could just be a coincidence, though. We lived in TX at the time and the car was parked outdoors during 3 very hot summers, so that might have contributed. If you replace the battery yourself, be sure to code it using something like BMWhat or other coding tool; if not, the charging system will not adapt properly.

But if it was the battery wouldn't some things reset on my idrive? Or like no lights would turn on? Cause everything turned on except the engine I would think the battery wouldn't turn anything on

Your battery is in that area between being able to power the electronics (lower current draw), and not being able to crank the engine (high current draw).

Looks like it's time to spend 300 bucks on a new battery -_-
