Quality E90 v E60
Without any bias, do you think the quality of E90 is superior to E60 ?
I sat in both a E91 & E60 today both with Leather & nice spec. Without any bias, the E60 interior felt inferior against the E91. |

Not really a fan of any of the new interiors, E65/E66 (7), E60 (5), E63/E63 (6) E83 (X3), E85 (Z4), and the E90. The E90 interior has grown on me more than any of the others and that is really the one one that matters.

He is the guy who made Bangle fameous-HE did the 7 series. I think the e60 is grop-dead gorgeous on the outside, on the inside the double hump à la IDrive is simply uncool. As well, the dash is too high; there should have been one less cant indentation, remove the bottom lip in the middle and things would have been just fine. Of course this is my opinion. Best move BMW could make, again, IMHO is to re-engineer their vehicles and make IDrive an option across the line. |

It seems blaming Bangle is a trend now. "If there's anything you don't like about a new BMW, it's because Chris Bangle has ruined it..." Quote:

Yes, Nagashima was the exterior designer. The E90's interior design was proposed by Matthias Hoffman. How we get on the designers topic in a thread about quality is beyond me... |

Just to be on topic, I think the two models' interiors are of equal quality. |

He actually penned it. Influence came from AVH which trickles down from Bangle. |

As a former owner of a 2005 545i (just sold it last week), all the talk about the e60 interior quality being inferior is garbage. Maybe the earlier 2004s might have been but definitely not the 05. I just ordered an e90 330i and am hoping that they have improved the interior quality from the one that I drove in the Ultimate Drive event. Those cars appeared to be pre-production cars and definitely their interiors materials were significantly inferior to that of my e60. In fact, their interiors felt almost as cheap as that of my 04 X3 (which I believe is the best driving SUV out there but is severely let down by the quality of its interior materials). However, a couple of minutes in the showroom the other day in a 330 appeared to allay my fears about the the e90's interior. In conclusion, I would attest that the e60 interior quality is at least as good as that of the e90, if not better. Now, styling is a different matter. I did not like that of the e60 initially but warmed up to it soon. And those who complain about I-Drive should not be driving these cars. I got so used to it that I feel withdrawal symptoms right now. Could be improved? Absolutely. Is it better than MMI? Definitely, in my opinion. But then, I even liked the original i-Drive on my previous two 745s. If my then 7-year-old and 4-year-old could figure out most of the functions on it by themselves within 15 minutes, then there is something wrong with the critics who can not figure it out.
No flames, just MHO. |

I can atest to this because when the E60 first came out I test drove it and found the interior to be a notch below the E39 525i I drove back then. a year later when the 05 Model E60's came out i found the interior quality to be much improved. as far as the E60 interior being better or worst then the E90, it's pretty close but I feel as if the E60 feels more solid and as the same quality of that of the E90. I currently own a 2005 E60 530i and a 2005 E46 330i.

Generally most of these people bought their E60 before launch & were very unhappy with the quality of the interior after their purchase. My father in law was one of these people, & he offloaded the car after 6 months & took a big hit. |

The '06 E90 interior seems to me to be of significantly higher quality than my '04 E60. One more reason to not buy a first year BMW... -MrB |
