Dinan Stage 2, Intake, and Exhaust Dyno

I don't want to read into it too much since I never did get a chance to dyno my car when it was stock. And I know every dyno is different. But this just seems a bit low to me. Not sure if I'm having early signs of HPFP failure or not. My cranks have been getting a bit longer lately. My boost gauge shows I'm boosting up to 14.5 psi. Anyways, it is what it is. Any thoughts?

I was having long cranks at one point, and I dyno'd with the JB3 and was very dissapointed. Took the car to the dealer, HPFP replaced.. then re dyno'd and got a solid 25HP increase.

Not saying that's your issue, but could be worth a try. It does seem kinda low even for Dinan.

First of all you want to convert it to STD and change the smoothing to 5 if you want to compare with all the other dyno's posted around here. Changing the correction factor should bump up the numbers a bit. I've also dyno'd my car at DSR and after talking to the guys there it sounds like their dyno tends to read a bit lower than other dynojets in the area. They said some people have been really crushed when they got their numbers.

I've been meaning to go back there now that I have my intercooler installed and fixed a boost leak, but because they are only open during the week I never get the chance. One of these days I'll take some time off and do it.

BTW, here's the thread I posted with my dyno's. I think with the intercooler and boost leak fixed I should be putting down somewhere around 350hp and a bit more tq.

Thanks for the info. Did they give you the data file to make those changes yourself? I knew it was you who had your car dynoed there. Saw your name in the result files.

Yeah, they emailed the files to me, so I was able to mess around with the data. I'm sure you could call them up and have them send them over.

Just downloan WinPep for free and have them send you the runfiles, then you can play around with them.

Actually, all dynoshops I have been to post (and most users do) SAE corrected with 0 smoothing, just as you do. Either way, the difference will be minimal (higher if you chose uncorrected). But what you are after is deltas, not absolute numbers.

I agreed, your wtq seems OK, but power is down. Seems you are making proper boost, so something else is amiss.

Generally yes all dynoshops do, but for whatever reason all the dyno's and numbers posted by n54 owners are STD corrected with smoothing set to 5.

That seems a little low, and also, isn't Stage II supposed to hit only 12~ psi?

unless you can dig up other n54 dynos from that same dyno, or did a before and after run, it will be hard to know if you are down on power.. does the car feel sluggish?

Maybe you took your car in for service and they flashed over your dinan flash?

also, having smoothing set at 0 or 5 will not change your peak numbers at all, just the appearance of your graph.

13psi. And it's usually in that range. Occasionally it will hit 14.0-14.7.

He pulled up a stock 335i dyno from another customer and hp was in the low 260's if I remember correctly. My car doesn't feel slow to me at all. Feels as fast as ever (unlike when I had the BMS DCI). And I know for a fact that the tune is there. Aside from the boost gauge, it's literally night and day without the tune. If BMW ever overwrites the software again, I'll be sure to get it dynoed (at the same place) before I get it reflashed again.

I got 301 HP, 360 Torque... Dinan Stage II to you but stock box with AFE filter and only a mid-pipe / Dynan muffler...
Cheers

There is no way to know if you are suffering any kind of serious power loss unless we see your stock dyno graph before the dinan. Dynos by themselves mean nothing, only a delta tool.
