Thing to look for???
Hi guys and gals! Im going to look at a 2008 135i tomarrow and need to know what things to look out for that go out in these cars. I tried searching the threads but just came up with maininly the HPFP problems. The car Im going to go test drive is a 2008 Crimson red 135i with the following options: 6MT, Sport package and Black boston leather. The owner is a private seller and his asking price is 26,000 OBO. He has already sent me some pics that show slight rock chips on the hood, very minor rim rash on a couple of the wheels and some paint transfer on the right rear bumper about the size of a softball from a hit and run. The price seems pretty good from what I have seen, just wanted to get everyone elses opion. Thanks in advance!

The car is fairly new, not a whole lot to be worry. Except, Make sure, positively that is has not been in an accident, fender bender....etc. Make sure the paint is pure from the factory..........thats 99.9% of your battle. Check under the vehicle to make sure it has not gone over any curbs.....etc. Then you are in the clear.

Warranty for the car in Germany is only 2 years so don't count on that. Check his service intervals and look for oil changes and prior work done on it etc. It might be worth paying a 50Euro charge to have BMW actually check it out for you. Kind of like a TUV inspection.
Good luck. |

When I lived in the UK it was the same thing, it seems to be an industry standard over there. Also, certified pre-owned might be a good option as you will have a car that is certified to be in good condition and an additional warranty. I can't remember what the extended warranty period is, but it may be worth a look.

I would check tire pressure. If it is low, it isn't a huge deal but it would make me a little concerned with what else hasn't been taken care of. Same way with oil level (you have to use the turn signal switches but you can download the manual on-line to see how to do it). Whether he has records of taking it in for service and what they did is also an indicator. If he has the information and it is orderly, it's a better sign than if he can't find it. I am pretty sure BMW has the car in its data base by VIN so you can still find out if it has been serviced but I think people who take excellant care of their cars will have this information readily available.

It's almost like that in every other country.
