Lexus seems to be moving in the right direction, creating a sporty character while remaining true to its luxurious heritage (quiet, supple, etc...).

I hope this IS is sporty to drive while also able to absorb the imperfections of the road well because that's what most buyers are going to drive it in. With a chassis built on a shorten new GS platform, I think this will perform well.

Love that gauge clusters inspired by the LFA.

I'm curious as to what the EV mode is in some interior pictures. I'm guessing that is the hybrid version along with that 250 and 350, right?

Kind of surprised to see ignorant, vacuous comments like this in 2012.

The LFA is a Toyota also. So what? It's still a capable car with the 2nd highest production Nurburgring time on earth.

By the way, 99%+ of the plastic is covered in the pictures provided by the OP, so you're pretty much full of shit if you think you can honestly assess the interior in this car, let alone assess its price/quality.

So disappointing to see most of today's BMW owners being more badge whores rather than car enthusiasts.

You've been around here long enough to know that this is nowhere near a new phenomenon.

These threads always expose the fanbois for what they are....clueless badge humpers.

Yes, I have been here quite long, but I have the feeling it got worse. Or maybe I am just no more a BMW fan(boy)?

By the way, you 7 Series looks sick. Where I live right now, there is on also very gorgeous looking BMW Alpina B7 Biturbo. It has 21" Alpina rims in gloss black, gb window trim, gb grills, gb side repeater trim, gb Alpina front lip and rear difusor, gb door handles trim, gb bootlid trim, gb exhaust tips and gb roof and black tinted windows. It look buisness. The most amazing parts is that it is a company car, and that there are two other ones in the same white-gloss black look, a BMW Alpina B5 Biturbo and a BMW X6 M. Best company car fleet I have personally seen.

my girlfriend has an is250 and i hate driving it. its pretty soft and a sorry excuse for a sports sedan. its definitely a girl's car.
hopefully this generation is better, but i'm not too optimistic for it.

Rear looks interesting, but the front is booooooring... I really like the perforated leather, but what's with the plastic invasion on the center console? That doesn't belong in that price range. The L on seats look a bit stupid, but whatever.

i've sat and driven the new GS and other Lexus models and was not impressed @ all. How can mags hail the new gs the best driving car in class? Granted, it has improved from past gens but it does not drive better than a 5 series sport. I'll post pics tonight of my visit to the dealer

In addition, the same mags hailed the gs400 best in class back in 1998. In the real world this car did not drive like best in class off the show room floor. I say screw magazines. This IS has an uphill battle to show those that love to drive that this is truly a drivers car.

Because it has the best numbers.

From skidpad to slalom to track times to subjective measures like feedback through the steering wheel or "feeling like the car is on rails" (which incidentally is really just a function of skidpad/slalom and how much roll the body has).

Of course this is only comparing the new GS350 to the 535i. Personally I'd wouldn't by either car because they're both a bit too slow for my liking. The extra horsepower of the 550i (or higher) completely trumps any advantage in handling that the new GS has, imo.

Although, I've seen your posts before and you seem to have an almost irrational and personal hatred towards the Lexus brand and dare I say a cult-like obsession towards German brands, tbh.

Now make fun of Lexus^^^

I almost lost my job because my brand new 135i couldnt even get me to work cus it had so many issues.. The reliability plus a new fun factor makes lexus a heavy hitter in this car industry.

BMW NA was horrible to deal with they have forever lost my business..

Is 300 165K miles no issues.. My dd as soon as I get an ISF.

Lol.. You know BMW makes their dashboards out of foam...

In the FL sun the dash in my car was messed up. My dealer wanted to take the dash apart and try to fix it. Wasn't even a year old.

lol @ my hatred?? Perhaps I should torch my old crappy Lexus then. Dude, the cars just dont do it for me in the driving feel department. I do not care what magazines say. Bmw does not pay my bills. I just love cars that drive well and lexus does not cut it.

Lexus has never made lookers, I think we can all agree about that.

Hell, I actually find the LFA to be extremely ugly, to be honest. It looks too "round" if that makes any sense.

But god damn that car is still a beast on the track. Track-wise I have mad respect for it.

I agree but still love the LFA.. My friend loves the new body style I hate it. In fact I really don't like A LOT of the new body styles.. Lexus.. BMW.. Audi.. the new LP Gallardos.. Do like the M4..

BMW I WANT ONE OF THESE!!!

I always hear these people talking about how un impressed they are with certain cars. So I will ask specifically here. Is it more impressive to you then say a ford fusion? Or anything in the none luxury car bracket. Or is it just in the luxury car bracket that this car is not impressive to most.

LOL, I see you're still butthurt and full of hate. Your old crappy lexus is crappy because you molested it with crappy chinese junk. I've had the same Lexus model as you until Sandy took it last month, and it was hands down the best car I've ever owned.
