I e-mailed Michelin a couple weeks ago to ask about this and they said as well that the Pilot Sport 4 S in 18" won't be available until 2018, but didn't have the specific sizes that it would be available in when they come out. It was at least helpful to know they're not coming out here anytime soon so we don't sit around waiting or have to choose between PSS and these or mixing if we need new tires this year. Guess we'll check back in a year or so.

BMW is most likely going to use them, too, so I am sure they will come in BMW start spec and 1/2 Series sizes some time in the future. They've even started using 18" PSS on regular 3 Series with staggered 225/225 tires.

Well, looks like PSS OEM sizes are good for the next 10yrs. or so, so I think my 225/40/18's are safe. Not due for tires at this point and was thinking of buying a set for the future but looks like it shouldn't be necessary.

So what about switching to 19" wheels?
I've been reading this thread with interest since I just bought PS4 tires for my old 18-inch rims. I also need to buy new rims, since I used to scrape my rims against curbs when I first bought the car. Even now, it sometimes happens a bit. That problem will be solved now because I put 225s on the front and 255s on the back. The extra rubber means the sidewall touches first.
If I wait to replace the rims until after the new PS4 tires need to be replaced, I could get either 18" or 19" rims. What do people think about PS4S tires on 19" rims on this car? Any down side to switching up to 19" rims? |

Unless you like the look of the 19" wheel rims, I'd recommend just waiting until the tires are released for the 18" since the 19" tires will be more expensive.

PS4S in virtually all 18" sizes now available on Tire Rack. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...4SXL&tab=Sizes
Seems like I screwed myself by getting PSS last month. |

I was doing some research regarding summer tires.
I am definitely getting confused as hell, since i am being bombarded by MPSS, MPS3, MPS4 etc and i have no idea what to go for when the time comes. The MPSS4/4s is definitely not available in sizes 225/40/18, at least none that i can find. |
