2006 325i: Happy With my First BMW

I have had my car over 1 month now and have to say this was the best car purchase I have ever made. Previously I had an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro and for myself I thought nothing could top that. When looking for my new replacement I test drove the:

2006 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro
2006 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro
2006 Lexus IS 250AWD and RWD
2006 Infiniti G35x
2006 FX35

Obviously my first criteria was to look for an AWD vehicle having enjoyed the Quattro in my Audi. After trying all the cars above and then the 325i I have to admit, the BMW was THE better drive. I was very impressed with it's handling, the fit and finish, and the silky smooth inline 6. While cars like the A3 3.2 and G35x had great raw power, it still couldn't compare to the BMW.

Often when I see comments of people regreting making their 330 or 325 purchase because of newer models or engines like the 335, I feel you should be happy with your purchase. Like other car manufacturers, BMW will always try to bring out a newer or better product and one can never keep up (unless you have deep pockets). So enjoy your car b/c no matter what model, it's still a BMW.

Welcome to the forum. Nice comments, with which I wholeheartedly agree.

I also agree. A lot of people always perceive the neighbour's grass to be greener, and always want the latest/greatest without ever being happy with what they have (A machine that gets a lot of people drooling), this only turns their inability to appreciate what they have into an endless money pit...

I just picked up my 325i from the dealer on Wednesday. During the evaluation process, I test drove a bunch of cars, including the A4 2.0 Q, A3 2.0, A3 3.2Q, and the Volvo S40T5. They are all nice cars, but the BMW felt the best. Congrats on your new car.

I have to agree with your statements. As I've said in multiple threads of the 3 series' future, it really doesnt matter to me because I'm enjoying what I paid for and I'm going to enjoy it regardless of what other models they release.

Picked up my first ever 325i last Saturday. Same situation with me. I tested similar cars before the BMW. As soon as I stepped on the gas I was hooked

I havent driven one yet... What did you think about the FX35?

I'm attracted to the FX35 because it seems like a great compromise between value, power, fun, practicality (potholes? no problem!) and should cost less to maintain (tires, brakes) than the 3-series over the long haul.
