NCD: Now I need new shades?
Took delivery yesterday on our 2011 128 w/sports & perf pkg., LOVE the car, but -- can't see what's on the radio! Anyone else notice that polarized shade completely black out the screen? Any fix for that, other than taking off the shades or getting cheap ones?

If you tilt your head a little bit you can start to see the display! |

I saw a thread somewhere(dont recall where) a guy purchased some type of polarized film and was able to line it up over the display which allows it to be seen while wearing polarized glasses. It is then cut to the size of the display and attached to it. Looked good when finished. Maybe someone here has seen it also. I would like to give it a try myself, if I only knew where to get the correct film.

This is an old issue, but I for one have never had a problem reading the display in any condition wearing my Oakleys. Maybe it's just certain types of lenses?

I originally found Bimmerpost forums a year ago when I was looking for an answer to my vanishing radio dial. There are plenty of threads in the DIY forums. You just need to buy some some polarized plastic, orient it correctly, cut to shape and slide it in. It took me 10 minutes.

You guys are all nuts...nothing comes close to what you should be "seeing" if you had Drivewear lenses.

1) Polarized not polaroid
2) It's the Oakleys that have the superior polarized lenses http://www.oakley.com/innovation/opt...f_polarization

It has nothing to do with which lens is superior or inferior. It has to do with the orientation/axis (example, 045 and 135) of the polarized film within the lens. The superiority of a lens, I believe, deals with the overall optics of its material and coatings/tints.

So these lenses are superior in performance when trying to read our radio displays while driving in our cars.

That is correct, so technically, you should be able to see the display by looking through the lenses at a different angle.
