I'm sorry to disappoint everyone but I will not be doing this swap at this time. Fell short on money, it ended up costing more then The quote I had before because it didn't include the tune. The additional tune was 600. Great price but I'm not about to pay double for a tune when I just bought one two weeks ago from AA. I had bought that one before thinking they could send me a updated map since they said they had done N54 manifolds but they don't have a tune stored for that stuff since its custom, but BPC has a in house tune for the manifold and AA can't make it without having dyno time and and making one from the start with nothing. I will be doing AA headers soon though lol I have the itch for more power!

Can you ask BMP for the dyno so I can tell if it's worth it? Please? This may be something I (or someone else) may want to attempt. And who knows, if things get better, you could change your mind.

Wha?

261 WHP & 8000K reline on an N52? Is this with the N54 intake manifold?

I saw the post on facebook. They removed the throttle body entirely and were running the stock manifold(possibly 3 stage all though it was not noted) open with no air filter or throttle body.

They claimed through their inhouse tuning that the throttle body was not necessary. They also did an auto to manual swap and are toying with an 8k redline to "test the limits" of the n52.

Excited to see where this goes. I've always been curious if the n52 can take more revs reliably. It doesn't make any power up there with the stock or 3 stage manifold but with an n54 manifold swap and a higher redline than perhaps the torque up higher can be utilized.

Nothing posted but i asked on FB. Also asked to clarify which manifold they're using and if they have plans to try an n54 manifold.

I'd certainly entertain swapping to an n54 manifold if the top end gains are vastly different. The 3 stage is great for dailying but eventually my car will switch to track duty full time.

I really like the 3-stage for low-end and don't think I'd want to swap manifolds again. The 261 WHP sounds great, obviously, but without a graph it's impossible to really evaluate. I'd LOVE to have a higher redline, as I'm putting in a 3.73 rear end, but I'm not really interested in "testing the limits" of my N52, lol.

Agreed. I'd swap manifold once its no longer my daily. The 3 stage is especially nice for the lovely NY traffic i deal with on a daily basis.

They just posted a graph. 260whp with auto trans lol now they did a swap over to 6 speed on the same car. Can you post the graphs man. I've Ben busy at work.

Sorry been out until now but here they are. The manifold they're using looks like a stock non 3 stage n52 manifold that has been hacked to remove the throttle body portion. Basically open intake runners to each cylinder.

Stock auto VS 6 speed swap/intake mod/exhaust/headers/tune

Wondering how we can have the single stage manifold modified to do this, so we can have a true off the shelf solution.

If they made a package that does something like this....wow.

Looks like they simple separated the manifold. Not sure if there's a seam there or they cut it. my main gripe is the lack of filtration. I'd prefer n54 manifold for this reason all though im sure some of the gains are due to deleting the throttle body.

Yeah, looks very much like a work in progress. No filtration is a no-go, especially so far up the intake tract - that's getting awful close to engine. And where's the airflow supposed to come from in real life. This seems very much like a "what if?" Kind of project rather than anything really practical, but maybe they have plans to develop it more.

This looks like an attempt at an ITB set up without the throttlebodies. Which I like the idea, and since the N52, and N55 both share the same valvetrain, and the n55 doesn't have a throttlebody, I can see how this would work. IM interested to see how they tune the throttle adaptations without the actual throttle body. This is a cool idea! Imagine having 6 individual stacks with filters like the old school zoomie style intakes with mechanical injection from the 60's and 70's. I think it could be pretty cool.

I just posted about this on the E90 side, but the thing is, this doesn't seem like a huge increase over the 248whp from the 3 stage car - and that didn't need special tunes or hacked manifolds.

Im thinking more of an aesthetic thing. I like straight 6 engines with ITB set ups. I think they look cool. Would it be practical? probably not. Would it be differen? yes Will it be cheap? Oh hell no! haha!

I had a 130i swapped 128i, with AA software and euro box. It was nice but going from 225 whp to 375 whp in my 135i was the easiest way to solve the power problem lol.

Finally someone hacked the stock manifold.

Less adventurous version would be a TB delete flange
