265/35/18 & 235/40/18 on !

So I finally put new tires on my stock 264 wheels and I got the size I wanted.
The tires are Dunlop Z1 Star Specs. 265/35/18 on the rears and 235/40/18 on the front. My suspension is completely stock.

I've only had these tires for exactly one day so far so I can't really comment on the performance right now. The star specs need to wear down just a little bit before they can perform their best from what I hear too. What I can comment on is the ride quality though. It has GREATLY improved now that I've ditched the runcraps ! It soaks up small bumps/potholes much better now and you get more feel of what the suspension is doing. I have them set at 36 psi all around btw.

I'll update later on the performance..

here are some pics (excuse the filthiness, its been raining quite a bit here.

This is what the front looks like at full lock

I could fit 1 index finger between the tire and the strut at full lock

Thanks, I love the meaty look (no homo) lol. It actually looks closer in pictures than it really is. It was hard for me to get a shot of this as I had to squeeze my hand and the camera behind the wheel to do it. So far so good, no rubbing. Even on bumpy roads

How do you mount 235 on 7.5 width rims? 265 on 8.5 width rims? Will there be a possible air leak?

No possible air leak.

For autocross, I have 245/35s mounted on the stock front wheels

Not sure how it would look, but I think the difference in overall diameter (over stock) would be greater for that setup than what I have now

Well that would be my question which in diameter would be closer to oem 235/35 or 235/30 and rears 265/35 or 265/30. Your looks bigger than oem, maybe it's just because tires are not stretched.

But the problem there is no such size as 265/30r18, none! So we don't need to think or compare... I would do 235/35r18 and 265/30r18 if there is any... No idea why there is none in 265/30r18, if you know, please tell me!

I'll try to get one soon. It feels like these tires somewhat filled the fender gap or it could be just me. Probably due to it not being stretched like others said.

nice! this is the setup i'm considering for next summer. don't know whether to go 225F 255R or 235F 265R. I want to make sure there is absolutely zero rubbing under any possible conditions.

can you attest to that yet?

So far after 3 days I've had zero rubbing with only myself in it. I even took some corners hard and a few full locks in parking lots. I'm getting an alignment tomorrow and putting as much neg camber upfront as possible so I'll update again regards that too.

I'll put up a side pic soon when I upload it

The ride is muuuuuuch smoother than the runflats. It's also quieter than rft's even though the star specs are not the quietest tires out there

Man, I wish the Star Specs weren't so heavy. In the 235/265 sizes, you're increasing the weight of the wheels/tires by 12 pounds. However, with a bit of extra front camber I'm sure they would still outperform a stock setup.

I keep getting told that 235/35/19 (front) and 265/30/19 (rear) won't fit. I find that assessment even more interesting now w/your setup. Granted my am running JIC CROSS coilovers, but still. The 19's would be the same size as this setup. Maybe a hair bigger.

^ Your statement is correct assuming your wheels are 19x7.5 +47 and 19x8.5 +49, which are the stock sized widths and offset in a 19" flavor. You're not taking offset into account. Also, he's running stock suspension, you're not. At the end of the day you're comparing apples to potato chips.

Considered offset. And the offset of the wheels I am referencing are pure weaksauce. +45 is nothing. Not to mention I have spacers to help fitment. And the coilovers are negliable being that I can raise ride hiegth to compensate for wheel/tire size. You are talking to a guy that did what many said wasn't possible w/a lowered E46 M3. Just saying. I guess the setup I was running on the M3 just spoiled me. And made me think it was something that could continue to run w/on the 135i because of how big the wheel wells "looked". Not trying to flame, just still trying to wrap my noodle around the lack of aggressiveness of the 135i when trying to stuff the most biggest/widest wheel/tire combo under the car. I guess its time to roll the fenders.
