In all the pictures I've seen, it looks like BMW didn't put the temperature control knob near the vents that is on the other cars.

This probably for the better anyway, it just makes things confusing.

The temperature adjustment via vents is a German thing. It used to be called bi-vent. I've seen this for over 30 years on German cars.
  • When pressing the DSC button momentarily this only disables DSC(turns on the yellow DSC light). To disable all of it hold the button in until both the DSC and Brake light turn yellow. One cool thing on the 135, according the technical manual available elswhere on this site, is that the E-DIFF remains in effect even when you disengage all the DSC functions
  • Pushing down on the wiper lever will trigger one cycle of the wipers.
And, even though the 1's don't come with a jack, never ever use the factory jack. Plainly, it sucks and it's kinda dangerous.

The stereo (all versions) has a speed sensitivity level, and the volume increases as you go faster in the car, to compensate for raod noise. The % of increase is adjustable by an onboard radio settings.

Now, you will have a seatbelt that will not bing anymore. This was originally found on the Legacy forums.

Happy driving, and I can't wait to hear more about these workarounds on BMWs.

I think he may have been alluding to the fact that when you have a heavy package on your passenger seat, the sensor in the seat chimes in because it thinks there is someone sitting there.

I hope I'm not mistaken, but I seem to remember that I had to ask the service guy to enable this in the initial vehicle programming, when we took re-delivery of the wife's X3 here in the US. Same thing for the E46 car I had before.

Maybe it's autmatically enabled for the newer cars...

Not sure what passes for a greeting down under, but it would make sense for you to actually read the thread, and the cause for this seatbelt commotion, before you make yourself look like one.

Not on the current models (probably not since 1999).

Agreed. These head units are so integrated with the car, that they'd be fairly useless to anybody other than in a similar car.

Interesting info I picked up yesterday from my local BMW dealership mechanics.

Expect to have to top up the oil in the 135i every 1500 or so for the first 6000 miles - totally nornmal and just a bedding in thing.

Give me a break. I read the thread.

Put the package in the boot (trunk), or if it has to go on the front seat, just connect up the seat belt for the journey! Problem solved. Why go a convoluted process to bypass/disarm the safety feature.

I am not convinced that efforts to bypass the warning are purely alturistic,

Don't be offended, there are Morons in Australia who still try to avoid wearing seatbelts as well, and I think they are equally dumb.

I stand by my statement.

PS If you read the text I quoted, it does refer to the driver's side seatbelt, and the only "package" would be...... the driver.

when the car is out, we should make an orgainzed sticky of all these featers. A stick liked this helped me figure the cool optinos that i didnt know i had. Like the side mirrors tilt down when you back up. A way to check your car from your dash.

stuff like that.

There are other, very legitimate reasons to want to disable the seatbelt chime. I've always wanted a set of Schrick (sp?) harnesses for the track days, which precludes using the regular seatbelt. The 911 GT3 has a way to disable it, for this very express purpose - apparently it's even described in the user manual.

Takes a lot more than that to offend me. You can post your opinions without the language or the attitude.

I thought this thread was for info for first time buyers, not some international wrestling match. Keep it civil.
