Dct software update drive feeling

Had the software DME update for the dct software due to the lag and joltiness I was getting now it's gone but so is the amazing burble and pops in between gear shifts so sad and less engaging does anyone know if there is a way to bring back the noise or revert back to old software?

Unfortunately, no. The software you requested (TCU shift logic) and the loss of the pops/bubbles are two different things from what it looks like. The ECU engine management is also updated as part of the service regardless if your TCU gets an update. Many people have been complaining about the "taming" of the engine post-ECU update.

Some people have been able to convince their dealer to install the PPK stage 1 flash as compensation. You can always try to discuss this as possible compensation, but they aren't going to downgrade your ECU/DME software.

It sucks when BMW detunes or makes the car less fun to fix another problem. When my N54 was neutered I got a Cobb tune and now it's better than before.

So the bmw performance flash will get back all the bells and whistles of the previous tcu software ? Then re doing Jb4 would keep all the pops and burbles ?

It won't bring you back to where you were at, but it may help you deal with the withdrawals.

Haha thanks your a knowledgable guy! Now when I have those withdrawals I'll just drive my dad's jaguar F type haha cracks and pops plenty lol. Bmw most likely won't want to give me a tune because I'm not happy lol. Wonder if they did the same thing with the M3 DCT?

My Dyson vac makes more noise than my 1 does after the update. I'm really disappointed with it. I talked to bmw customer service and complained. They want me to go back to the dealer one more time.

Shifts are slower, barely any pops and crackles with engine overrun, and feels more like a standard slushbox. Performance exhaust now sounds like the stock exhaust with the golf tee mod.

Agreed! My car sounds tame now what is the dealer going to do to help ? Wish there was something we could do. That was the BEST part of the Dct apart from the quickness of the shifts

The BMW de-tune really sucks. But a lot of people like it bc it quiets the engine down a lot. I also went with an aftermarket SW tune when my N54 got "neutered".

Your best bet of to get BMW's PPK... it will give you LOTS of gurgling and popping. Much more than the stock factory tune you had. I would really look into it. See if you can talk BMW NA into giving you their PPK tune for free. Some have gotten it for free. Some have paid $700 for it. You could also buy the PPK tune online(from one of our vendors) and have your local dealer install it for one hour's labor.

Thanks again Dackel! You are the Ming of knowledge on this forum for sure! Someone stated that the bmw tune will have popping and gurgling but not as much as before the update. And what would you recommend saying? Just that I'm super disappointed since receiving it?

Is this the same update from a year or so ago or is there a newer update?

Nov 2013 I think.

I'll be in Munich in a couple weeks. I plan on visiting the Welt. Maybe I can stage a protest outside with a sign reading "BMW stole my DCT!"

I now wish I got a manual. I'm not sure the launch control works properly. I tried it a couple days ago and there was a big pause before it decided to launch. Maybe someone else can try it.
