You should also have better steering response and handling with the wider tires. |

Ignoring the tire width, a 40.4lb unsprung weight drop is an incredible boost in performance.

Wider tires make handling worse. He should get a nice increase in grip, though!

He means that handling by definition has nothing to do with cornering force/ability.

Grip is grip. It's independent of handling.

Most people do! Amusingly, though, wider tires almost always make handling worse (which is not to say I'm against them-- my current summer setup is 255 front 275 rear).

^^ i hate my staggered summer setup, i wish i went square. My winter setup feels so nice and balanced(minus the mushyness) but my summer setup i definitely feel a bit more understeer with stock sizes on 264's.

here's two
I do like the winter's because they do break traction so much easier compared to summers, I don't have to push them as much to get squirrely and it makes it a bit more entertaining to drive.

So i have noticed that to run 330mm rotors we may need to get this part:
34116769097, the calliper carrier bracket from z4 e89, 330i, 130i, 123d, x1 http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/34116769097/ES59880/ 128i GrandAm racer, the carrier side matches the 330i above: here is 128i version Note that 128i version is missing the "ears" and the sides are rougher vs the smooth 330i carrier yet another way to make me feel that I am fixing the car as a result of BMW's cost cutting, marketing and a little bit of engineering EDIT:: Brake pads may need to be different too ( visially they look the same), maybe because of how the carrier has grooves for pads... 34116771972 130i spec 34116777772 128i

I thought it would be direct swap to use 330i sized rotors. Probably silly of me to think so, but hey Im no mechanic just a guy not afraid to DIY
And every mod so far for me has been to wake up the n52 because it seems backwards to have the engine limited vs stock in Europe - the 330i/x3 manifold with Disa, it was already on the 330i in 2006 so why chnage to single manifold - the Eurobox vs Stock NA air box - the 128i brakes vs 330i front brakes & z4 e89 front brakes - 135i BMP bbk does not work on 128i's rear ( ebrake stops working) Seems that my mods are the retrofit type vs something that is a an improvement

Proper Brembo BBK should be lighter than any of the stock options either way, and that's where I'll be headed eventually. I would agree we were intentionally gimped from the factory, but that makes it almost all the more fun to fix/mod. With headers, DISA valves, and software we have the same HP as a 135i and weigh 250lbs less.

-Source used 135i calipers, all 4 sides ( figure out how to make ebrake work, similar to e86 z4 guys) -Retrofit/rebuild using Racing Brake (RB) pistons for front (~400) -Use a 2 piece front rotor from RB or else where ( stoptech, dba etc.) -Consider powdercoat for color change
