couple of questions on E90 320

Hi all,

Just got my SG/Terra 320i two three days ago.

would like to seek some advise on a couple of questions.

i) Does the steering wheel (the car) center itself straight after one turn into a road either left or right. for my case, the steering (and the car) centers itself but not all the way straigthen. the steering does not spring all the way leaving about 30 deg off.

ii) have anyone tried to change the programm to default the air-con to recirculating as oppose to my current default which is fresh air.

thnx in advance, : )

Hi there

Nice to know another 320i owner. Most people on this forum own either 325 or 330.

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, the steering returns to centre.

2. I have the same issue with with default aircon setting. Checked with my dealer: you'd have to send it in for them to reprogramme.

The other thing I would like changed is the autolock feature. Mine autolocks when the car starts moving. To unlock it, you'd have to pull the lever TWICE. Some of my unsuspecting passengers just tried to pull harder: I am afraid one day they'd yank the whole thing off.

Am still putting off dealer reprogramming, since I have heard/read horror stories about dealers introducing more errors than solving them... will let you know if I take the plunge.

Other than that, am very happy with my car.

PS. what rims do you have? Am thinking of upgrading to 162 18", but am worried about underpower in 320i, and harsh ride. If you have this setup, mind sharing with me your experience?

Cheers.

as others point out, the steering should definitely goes back to center.

but then, make sure you do that test on a flat road or else the run flat tires might be goin to other direction on their own, heh

Are you trying to say that the steering wheel goes back to it's normal position slower and feels heavier than other cars comparatively? I noticed that too when I just picked up my E90. The steering is heavier than an average car in the E90. But I this feeling is what gives the 'ultimate driving experience'.

yes, the return response is very slow and the feel tight. the return is also not complete in that it does not return to center, so it gets tiring evertime coming out from a turn, that i have to manually pull the steering center to drvie straight again.

any idea if this problem could be rectified by increasing the power assist ?? ??
