You can open up the casing on the JB+ and dial it to different amounts of gain. On the lowest possible setting it's only like 25 hp I think. Otherwise you could get an old JB1 or JB2 but I'd honestly just go with the JB+ because you won't have to deal with plugging in anything into the ECU. Even on stock setting and up to 100% power the JB+ has not given me any error codes either.

One more for the JB+ I got one and its got the power that I wanted. My 1er is fast enough for me. I'd rather concentrate on the suspension and exhaust.

The JB+ is a great value. I had it installed for 14 months; mostly on 100% and never had any problems with codes (I have the BT cable to check). The increased power was very impressive; especially in the mid and high RPM ranges. You can get a good used one for under $150.

ESS DirectFlash
I just got the ESS Direct Flashon my 135i that is completely stock and I would definitely recommend it. The ease of use and ability to return to stock anytime along with great hp gains is just a win win IMO.

Just flash it and I wouldn't expect any tune to cause any issues with just a tune.

JB3 or JB4, run on lowest setting, and depress accelerator only 3/4s of the way down. The less you depress, the less the HP you will generate.
