Adaptive Transmission - Are technical details available?

I like to know how things really work - does anyone have any leads on documentation for the adaptive automatic transmission?

The owner's manual and brochures talk about the transmission adapting to driving style and I think I've noticed the transmission doing its thing if it detects a hill climb or descent. Delaying upwards gear changes in each situation helping to keep the car either ready to accelerate up hill or engine braking slowing down the descent.

I'm looking for something more technical that describes the sensors in use and how the program "adapts". I'd also like to know how the Drive vs Support setting changes any selections.

Who actually makes the tranmission? Maybe they publish some technical information.

Thanks
S.

Interestingly from this I learn that the car will hold lower gears longer to warm the engine - I always thought high revs were to be avoided when the engine oil was cold. It implies that having the oil temp lower for longer is worse than running the engine at high revs at low temp.

Interesting how the lockup clutch works in every gear. On most other cars the lockup function doesn't take place until at least 45mph and only in the overdrive gear.
