Selling 1M, asking price?
I have a loaded stock AW 1M with less than 5,000 miles on it. My wife and I might be having a baby and I will probably sell my car. If I had all the money and room in the world, I'd keep three cars.
Question is: Do you think I could fetch a better price for it now, or wait 6-12 months adding miles and considering the risk of rock dings, scratches etc? |

$.02, now. Prices will probably dip when the next M3 is on magazine covers and the next 1 Series/ M2 is being teased, etc. When those are out and common things may change again, but that'd be a while.

start at $64,999 and work your way down to $60k. Besides these tuner cars listed for $80k plus, there are no other 1m's for sale right now. Oh, and besides listing it here, put it on ebay or autotrader to get the views

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I will go ahead and list it. I'd like to get what I paid for it and I have time to be patient and wait for the right buyer.

Baby seats fit in the back of a 1M you know... I went from a pure 2 seater to the 1M (in part ) because you can fit baby seats in the back of the 1M. And the trunk is certainly large enough to swallow all kinds of baby-related stuff.
Still not quite sure why in the US people think that because they have a kid (or two) they absolutely *must* have an SUV (or a CUV or a minivan). Sure four doors is a little bit easier to get the baby seat in and out but are you that lazy you can't do it?? |

The way it's looking the 1M will be a collectors car. Why anyone would want to waste it as a daily driver or worse, as a baby transport vehicle is beyond me.
The 1M should be a 2nd car, garaged most of the time and only taken out for fun runs and track use. |

Why exactly is it a "waste"? Because it transports you to work and back or because occasionaly you can carry the rest of your family? How is it a waste? It is not a Atom or Bugatti, it is a four seat compact coupe made for the roads first of all. Keeping it in the garage doesn't make it better on the track at the week-ends or just because you may leave a dyper set in the trunk doesn't ruin its handling balance.

Yeah I'm sure that I could make it work but climbing back there to strap my nephew in is not very fun. Especially during these hot summer months. I am impressed by the two car seats fitting back there!
I don't think this car could ever be a waste unless it's never driven. It is so much freakin fun. Even if it's only on the weekends. |

Of course, there are those of us who think the opposite, wondering how or why anyone would leave a 1M sitting around in a garage. Life is too short and 1Ms are just too much fun to drive. But then, to each his own. I can certainly understand wanting to keep the car as new as possible, but, fortunately, I got over that by curbing a rear wheel the day after I picked mine up. It was a freeing experience.

It's won't be built again, you will never be able to recoup all those commuter miles so why not save them for when you can really enjoy them? |
