'05 E87 I-Drive problems

Hi all, this is my first post here so I'll introduce myself, I'm from Portugal and just bought my first bimmer. It's a 116i converted to autogas.
I bought it used and it has the i-drive system, professional radio with nav.

The thing is the i-drive system hangs. I mean it really freezes out. The radio gets silent and it stays like that for some minutes then comes on then goes off. More off than on. The knob stays unresponsive.

Sometimes it works for like 30 to 40 minutes perfectly and then gets jammed again. The gps system works even when the system is blocked (it keeps updating the position in the map)

Anybody has a clue or knows of a similar case?

I've looked around much and didn't seen any case like mine.

try disconnecting the audio changer or amp in boot ?? Also the LPG sys will have ecu hookup can you try to read it >?
