My 128i vert is a 2009 without the ipod interface and I don't think they've changed this. I plug my GPS output (which I also use for Bluetooth and MP3 playback) into the auxiliary port under the arm rest in the center console. If you get the ipod adder, you get a pocket for the ipod on the underside of the arm rest, right over the aux port and you also get a usb connector close to the aux port. The USB interface lets you see the playlist of your ipod on the radio if you do not have the navigation or on the navigation unit if you do.

I can attest to the fact that music plays well through the accessory input and you can switch to it through the button on the steering wheel. I use the GPS to select playlists stored on my Garmin.

Jim,

where do you mount your Garmin? Also, do you use any cable tidy/guides to keep the cabin clean/clear of clutter? How long is the cable from the armrest to your Garmin? Where do you get the cable from? Can you take a picture of your set up?
