Handmade Vinyl "Eyelids"

Hey everyone, In case you don't know me, my names Christian B, I'm 16 years old, and i live in So Cal.

Today, instead of partying, i decided to use my brothers left over matte black vinyls from his two-tone project to create a pair of "eyelids" for my car.
I spent all today drawing it up and on my knees cutting it out, so hopefully you all like it.

Below are pictures taken today. If enough of you like it, maybe I'll be able to get them made for sale!

Hmm I am half/half on these.. I would prefer that it ends and slops up at the hood and side line like many has requested.. I dont know if you know what I mean instead of going all the way to the end of the headlight. But over all this is actually a good start..

Well this was just a test so there are more to come, but yea I mean toss me some ideas and I'll get some more vinyl from my bro's guy and test around

Hey I just got a great idea, what if I cover the orange plates with the vinyl material as well, say curving the vinyl on the curve of the orange? Anyone want me to try?

Nice ingenuity. Try a semi-opaque shelf liner to match the 5-series.

Not sure i quite understand "Shelf Liner" haha.
Like the silver bar on the 5-series headlights?

(And btw, anyone who wants me to try idea, if you could, please use MS-Paint of photoshop to kind of draw it out and put a picture here so i can visually see what ideas you guys want me to test)

I completly agree. Like the eyelids photoshoped on that white 1 series.

Nevertheless, good start! Wish someone would actually make some decent affordable eyelids for our cars.

Hey slog, if you or anyone else could post that picture of the white 1series with the photoshop eyelids on this thread, I can use my vinyls to make them. And by the way, if these vinyl eyelids are made for sale, they should be pretty inexpensive

I spent the better part of the week messing around on my own eyelids. I'm almost done. They're based on the white 135i PS version floating around out there... I made them out of epoxy resin and am having a mold poured this weekend to recast as fiberglass. They look pretty good IMO... not very aftermarket at all. I'll get some pics up after they're painted this weekend.

How much did it end up being to mold it and make it and paint? Because I'm trying to make inexpensive, nice vinyl eyelids for all of us here on the forums.

Shelf liners are those things that moms (and dads) usually buy to line the shelves in the kitchen so it won't scratch. I bought some for an art project in the past at Home Depot. It had an adhesive back side and comes in many different tints, color, etc. Every time someone mentions eyelids I think of these. Roughly $5. I'll grab some tonight just to see.

We ain't gonna judge you for being 16. We will if you drive like an idiot though. =)
